Whats it worth?

The engine we bought for our log splitter came with a manual transaxle on the frame. This we don't have any use for, and was wondering what the price ranges for a used one go for? It's not a hydrostatic drive axle, straight 3 speed( we think). Just wondering about cost as I'm sure someone can get some use out of it.

We got the lower 1/2 of the log splitter painted and is drying now in 80 deg heat with the sun beating on it. Also fought the timing on the motor, did everything possible including grounded out the spark plug ( nice blue spark). The engine kept backfiring and wouldn't start, we took it all apart except the lower engine case. Just for kicks, we borrowed a spark plug from our Garden tractor (viola) it fired right off.
It even run with one of our cleaned Dodge 318 spark plug we kept. The porcelain was broke up inside the metal housing on the old plug, it came apart full of rust around metal socket housing on the spark plug. I have always learned if it is in time, has spark, and gets fuel it will run.Not this one, had all three, it refused to run. We got a brand new free push mower, everyone in the area tried to get it running, without results. We got it checked the keyway, it was half sheared, so replaced it for $0.29 and it still is running, that was the cheapest mower we have, a $159.00 lawn mower for $0.29, what a deal.

Any way the 16 hp engine is running great after all the resetting of gap in the coil, cleaning the rust covered mag, recleaning the carb ( about 6 times) cleaned the alternator under the mag, charges great, checked the valve adjustments, and all the wiring is put inside loom and clamped around where it won't fall or get burnt by engine heat. We bought a new Arnold muffler and it is quieter than our 8 hp Briggs logsplitter.Should have it all assembled and ready for wood next month if all goes good.
Now searching for little fuel line clamps (1/4) need a bank loan if we buy local, price range from $1.09 each to $4.99 each for the little ear type fuel clamps. So much for buying local.Found some for .29 cents each.

LOU

Try the garden tractor forum here on YT. Someone of there may need one. With todays throw away mentality most people are not going to worry about tossing out a whole mower and buying another, with plastic.
