Most younger people will not know because the product that this was used for has not came that way for twenty-five to thiry years. I have two that do the same thing but are built a little differnt. My Great Grand Father ran a black Smith/repair shop and had two of them. He kept several different brands of the product.

It's a quart motor oil "can" dispenser, shown here with a paper "can". AMAZING how times change and what was common and useful years ago is now outdated, even a simple product merchandising rack.

Stores never had anything like that around here, just set the cans on the shelf. And I do still have some of the old oil cans around still full.

I remember when it sat in front of the local Phillips 66 station, owned by a classmate's dad.

It's on wheels, he'd wheel it in to the service bay at the end of each day.

I don't know about anybody else, but I think the demise of the cardboard oil/transmission fluid can HAS to be one of the greatest things to occur in the last 30 years, as far as auto maintenance convenience goes. Remember those annoying spouts that leaked everywhere, open oil cans getting knocked over and spilling everywhere, seeping cans, not having one of the leaky spouts and either collapsing the can or impaling your hand trying to use a screwdriver or other improper pointed object to open it? Ah, yes. The good old days .....

All the ETD's I ever saw had remote power for accessories like that. No hookup required, just point the accessory at the power port.
