Wheel Spacing

How is wheel spacing measured? I'm trying to set up properly for a plow. Plow manual says 30" wheel spacing. 2520 with 15.5 X 38's. Plow is an F145H 3X16.

Is it from the centerline of the tractor to the center of the tire?

Or is it from the centerline of the tractor to the inside edge of the tire?

Thanks so much!!

Also when setting the wheels for plowing in the furrow, they measure from tractor centerline to edge of tire.

I don't know on the mounted plows but the semis the hitch bar is adjustable left/right so that allows for flexibility on wheel setting. I know that for longer than I have been alive we measured tractor centerline to tire centerline for plowing. We run semi mounted mostly. On them its always 38" center to center, we have a small very old oliver 3x14 mounted and that is 30" center to center. I am not going to say that some of the other are wrong as there are differances but I know my 4020 can not reach 45", not even close, 38 is at the end of the axles, I doubt sincerely I can get 30" tractor centerline to inner edge of the tire (18.4x34). I am fairly certain that if you go 30 center to center that you will plow correctly. Mount the plow, drive on soft dirt so you leave wheel tracks, let plow scratch the surface for a few feet and measure from the inner edge of the plows first bottoms mark to the center of the tractor tire, adjust the wheel accordingly to the plow cut width. That is really the best answer rather than asking what complete strangers on the internet think about something. Internet answers are sometimes worth the ink they are written in and we are not using ink... I hope this helps you get on the right track.

Devon,

I just realized I had a typo in my post.

"let plow scratch the surface for a few feet and measure from the inner edge of the plows first bottoms mark to the center of the tractor tire"

Should read

"let plow scratch the surface for a few feet and measure from the inner edge of the plows first bottoms mark to the inner (left) edge of the tractor tire"

That is how wide of a cut that first bottom will be making, try to set your tire close to your 16" cut. Sorry about the goof, had a bad head ache all day.
