wheel weights

Without taking them off the tractor, can anyone tell me how much IH wheel weights weigh? I am looking at the rear weights common to all C, H, M, etc. that can be split or full circle.

I have one set and looking to add more.

Thanks

Actually, the full circle weights as used on the C, H, M, and beyond, weigh 145# each.

The later style, 2 piece weights, which will also fit the C, H, and M, weigh 75# each piece, which totals to 150#.

Lots of sellers out there are asking anywhere from $75 to $100 EACH for the full circle weights. That price SHOULD buy a SET of TWO weights, and even that is too much. $25 to $35 per EACH weight is a much more reasonable price.

(quoted from post at 15:06:10 02/27/14) I have sold many sets for $100 per pair.

Haul those things to the scrap yard and you will get about $15 to $20 each, which means they are NOT made of gold. $75 to $80 for a set of two is a good and reasonable asking price.

price of weights i feel are to high but they are worth what ever someone is willing to pay. I got a set of wheel weights and 10 cast suite case weights for $450.00 that was less than 30 cents a pound. good deals are out there.

Well, around here I sell them about as fast as I get them in and
often have folks asking for them when I am sold out, at $100 a set.
I imagine it is a regional thing, perhaps the average price for them
is lower where you are than it is here. I had a set of A weights that I
got at an auction for $50 and finally sold for $70 after a few
months, then fellow who bought them put them back on Craigslist
for $250 but I would be surprised if he got any takers at that price
since I had had them for $75 for months with no interest shown.

I am from western ny, the deal I got was a retired farmer that was goin by pricing of over ten years ago. I have been lookin for two years for suite case weights for the right price. just had to be pecient. your from ny as well correct.

Where are you located. I have several of the "half" weights. They've been getting used to weigh down my pickup this winter but for $25 a half I'd let them go.

One must wonder about those "in the business" that rebuild parts. Take carburetors for example, how many $2-$3 core charges for carburetors are applied when sending out a rebuild? Should be hardly worth the effort to get one back, as it isn't even functional as-is, and you can't get more than that for one at the scrap yard. Maybe $5 for a core is fair, that's 2X scrap price. They aren't made of gold, after all.

Locally, $80 might buy a pair of rear weights at an auction, if you're lucky and have a day (or several) to kill. That's about the bottom-dollar price for any pair of full-circle weights that weigh 125#-150# per piece. IH/JIC/F&H, and a few other mfr.'s weights for the last 5 years will rarely bring less than $80/pr., and often times bring much more. IH Utility, IH Std., 4 pcs. of IH split weights, MM, JD, and rare weights always bring much more.

Last I checked, $125/pr. and up is where the local dealers price the common IH full circle weights, and you'll have to be lucky to find some in stock at that price, too.

(quoted from post at 18:19:24 02/28/14) I got some several pair of the 145 lb full weights I would sell. $75.00 a pair in northwest Ohio.

I'm in southwest Iowa. If I were closer to you, I'd be there tomorrow.

(quoted from post at 21:18:27 03/01/14) The math is a lot easier when figuring 150, and for most applications is accurate enough.

Unless you are shooting for 600 pounds of added weight, and end up with only 580 pounds, which in most cases is plenty close enough.

Curious if anyone has ever weighed those full circle weights? I'm guessing that not all of them weigh exactly 145 pounds?

I have 17 sets and use 10 of those sets for pulling. The 10 sets weigh in at 2940lbs and average 147lbs each weight. Visually there are casting differences between all sets. I have a few sets that the Center hole is smaller than the others also.

Thank you. It is as I suspected.

I notice there's a lot of "what I *THINK* it should cost" being passed off as "what it should cost" on this forum.

These are, in many cases, ridiculous lowball prices that will get you laughed off the property, and in some cases, run off the property on the end of a loaded 12ga.

If you can get full circle IH weights for $25-$35 each, "any day of the week," you better load up a truck and head up here. You can sell as many as you want for $100 a pair, and double your money.

I've been watching Craigslist. Several ads on there with full circle weights for sale. They are all asking $75 to $100 EACH for those weights. Those ads have ALL been reposted now as often as craigslist will allow, and they have ALL been running now for at least 3 months. Just recently, there was a guy on ebay selling those same weights. Buy it now price of $35 each, and he had at least 12 of them. In about two weeks time, he is down to just one weight left.

You be the judge. The guy who asked $35 each is now sold out, and the guys who want $100 each are still setting on them. They are worth NOTHING if all they do is take up space.
