Most people that will say aint that a shame will not be willing to give up what the taxes pay for that they feel they have a (right to receive free) People will even make a case that we should receive health care (free)

Actually, the country started out in debt to France for the Revolutionary War expense. Andrew Jackson was the first President to pay off the National debt and he did it by selling land East of the Mississippi at 1.25 per acre (prior to the "land rush" that offered land free to settlers West of the Mississippi). Too bad we don't have that option today.

Sometimes the History Channel comes in handy.

I certainly agree with the sentiment of your comment, though. Andrew Jackson, and no doubt all of the presidents before him would turn over in his grave at your list of taxes!

Don't forget the Automobile Insurance Tax. Not a tax you say? If the Government (used to be you and me now it's the politicos) says you pay it, It's a tax!! Mine always runs a lot higher than the property tax on my vehicles. Not deductible on other taxes either if you're an individual.

As A. Lincoln might have said; forget the war and taxes for a day and have a happy Thanksgiving.

I believe that the problem is that so many people want the government to support them.

A girl needs a transplant. It is estimated that during her lifetime it will cost 30 million dollars. (10:00 news) The government will pay and we pay for he government.

Retired people can not afford their drugs. Government pays and we pay for it.

Women take fertility drugs and then have 4,5,and 6 babies at one time. Government programs come to their aid.

The list goes on and on.

The legal system has gotten to big with all the different agencies.

The larger our government gets the more we pay for it.

Politicians are buying votes by selling out to the crybabies.

Haven't paid income taxes for so long I forgot what its all about. Well I do have to file so I guess they get you coming an going don't they. Plus I have to buy that expensive program just to figure out that I don't owe them anything. Sooner or later they will come up with a tax on the taxes that you didn't pay them I'm moving out.

If I had a choice, I'd go back to 1908 in a heartbeat. Sure, there was more hard work, but times were so much simpler.

And yes I agree with the rest of you, it IS time for another tea party. The American Revolution was called that for a reason. It's just a matter of time before the next uprising. Hence the name, Revolution, it keeps coming back around. Movements go so far and stop, revolutions keep coming back around.

That is exceptional thinking for me to consider but I have stated many times in my life that "I was born 100 years to late". From a Babe born in the Hills of Kentucky who started with nothing to today where I have some things ,Modern society stills leaves me with a feeling that I do not fit in.

I understand and except the fact that taxes help run the government and fund the aid programs. BUT it also makes a lot of fat cat politicians rich and that stinks,along with the fact a lot of people get free rides with the sweat of a working person. I pay 1847.00 a half for property taxes on my house with 3.77 acres, that's 307.83 per month. The house is 16 years old and lets say I go the whole 30 years on the loan. In that same time frame I will have paid more in taxes then it cost to by the property and build the house, ( not counting interest on the loan ). My taxes have increased every year for the last ten years. Now that's just one tax of very very many. If you really think about it you'll find out that if you work it cost at least 40% of your wages in one tax or another and that sure don't seem right to me. I would say just my two cents but somehow the government would want a tax on it, a luxury tax or something. ( LOL ) I guess not much we can do so I'm going back for more turkey. Hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving.

What really irritates me is knowing when the HIGHER UP POLITICAL OFFICE people retire they will continue to draw the amount of money that they were paid just before they retired. They will also receive the best health care available thanks to us that pay taxes. Also if you want to see social security get turned around MAKE those same politicans get SOCIAL SECURITY and not their SPECIAL retirement that they vote in for themselves. Shucks I would like to call SOCIAL SECURITY up and tell them that I want my checks to start reflecting the same amount of money that I was bringing home while I was working.

This remindes me of that old Monte Python movie, The Life of Brian, Everyone is sitting around complaining about the Romans and some one asked, What have the Romans ever done for us ? Then the answers came... the aquaduct,sanitation , education, a system of justice. I not fond of taxes either but what government services should we give up first, Medicare, Border Patrol, the Farm Bill, the Military, Rural Electric Cooperatives,all those water projects, ....just wondering?
