Where does this go?

High school kids got a little excited when they were taking apart the transmission on this 770. Can anyone guide me to where this splash guard bolts in the transmission.

   It's not a splash guard.  It is a trough to direct oil to the front input shaft bearing.  It is turned around from where it is in the photo and is retained by the front bolt in the interlock.  You need a spacer to get the tab over the front of the interlock.

Ed, I don't mean to hijack your post, but does anyone know if the 77s and 88s have this part? I don't recall seeing one in my 77. Thanks Chuck

Chuck: Did you add a power booster to your 77? One purpose of that piece of metal is to make sure plenty of oil goes to the power booster during normal operation.

So it goes into that hole that goes out to the Power Booster? That makes sense. I did find the spacer and I will put it with the interlock. Thanks for the advice.
