which API engine oil rating?

Hello, What engine oil should be used on a 1954 TO30. What API rating etc. and what viscosity is best to use. Can"t seem to find it in the shop maunal. Thanks

15 W 40 or 10 W 30 will work, this same oil can be used in the hydraulics. Make sure the oil is for gas engines not diesel.

Shell Rotella T . Diesel rated oil . It still has the additives required for old style cams and lifters . Mobil , and others also make the same oils . Walmart is a good place to buy this oil .
These additives were removed from regular oils because they were contaminating catalytic converters .
I believe that my oil change in my 1952 TO30 took 6 gallons . That is rear , trans. , and engine .

I agree with Dick NY; I use Rotella 15X40. If you are in a very cold climate, you might go to 10X30 instead. FYI, I believe the filter is NAPA 1010 Gold.

i used 15w40 shell rotella
give the old tired engine in my to-35 good oil pressure.

i use napa gold filters

Like Dick I have elected to use 15 - 40W Sinopec (it was cheap) oil for diesel and petrol engines in my TEA20.
What was in the transmission and hydraulics was I felt what the factory used plus water...
Should be a lot better than what I removed!
I am not expecting the tractor will do a lot of hours once restored. Before I changed the transmission oil I gave it a good clean, ran it for 20 minutes with some old diesel and transmission fluid, just to clean the old gunk out.
