Which motor?

I believe it was the 436. On this engine IH got the bore and stroke ratio in the sweet spot. However the 414 wasn't chopped liver. The 466 had a longer stroke and early models had trouble sealing the top keystone design rings (very durable ring giving the longest life), probably due to the higher piston ring speeds and were "updated" to a less durable top ring which "twists" slightly in the piston groove and presents a sharper sealing edge on the cylinder wall. But if you want more power and retain overall durability it takes more cubes so one uses the 466 regardless if power levels approaching 200 hp are desired.
 
Their both good engines.966 and 1066 had the 414 non turbo and turbo.1466 and 1566 had the 436 turbo.You didn't get a 466 untill you got into the 88 series tractors.
