which tires to use

i have a few old john deeres,we are building A to pull and iam trying to decide which tires to put on it, ive got a like new set of 14.9x38 safemarks 23 degree tread, a set of 14.9x38 goodyear dyna torques 45 degree tread that have like 60% tread left, slightly rd wore and a set of 15.5x38 firestone f&R all traction 23 degree tread 45% tread left, slightly rd wore. my A has front cut tires that iam not allowed to run in div 2 so iam selling them. out of the 3 sets of tires i have, what would be best for my A, it will pull 1st gear sometimes 2nd gear where permitted. will make about 60 hp

I'd go with the Field and Roads that are slightly road worn. Tough to beat those. Your A should have plenty of power to turn a 15.5x38. I believe a 15.5 is slightly smaller than a 14.9 tho. Its better to have an older harder set of worn tires than new lugs they will bend under a load. my 2 cents.

iam going to sell tires on a now they are match set 14.9x38 front cut $300 for pr...iam in ny the othe 14.9s are on my 60 and 70 so no there not forsale

I would try the older harder tire, that sounds like the 15.5 from what I get from what you said but if you spin out with plenty of power try the oldest set of 14.9s. They are not as wide but are taller so you wont spin as fast. We run several john deeres and on a tractor with your horespower the 14.9s usally work best. Hope they will hook up for you and have fun.

if pulling just 1st and 2nd gear use the 14.9's either set will work good i personally think the safemarks are harder rubber tire to begin with

Are the Goodyear's squiggly tread 45 deg, I have a set of top cut 14.9's I try to run on my 435 when that is as big as the rules allow, I have did really well with them. mine don,t have 7/16 in. of tread.

yea the goodyears are 45 degree kind of squiggel,y the safe marks are nice tires and i know most guys pulling a stock creeper gear tractor want 14.9s for more ground speed since they are taller than a 15.5

Since you have multiple tractors run the same classes, one with Goodyears and one with Firestones. that way you will be like a Nascar team. The Smith
Brothers, who won the 4250 King of the Hill at Tunica Ms. Are winners because of multiple tractors in the same class.

on a dry hard sun baked track 45. will out pull 23 but 45. will dig a hole real quick on a loose track
