white 2-180 questions

Yes, the 2-180 has a parking pawl on the pinion shaft just like the 2-135's and 2-155's. And yes, they have diff locks.

The transmissions are basically the same architecture, but I would imagine there were some changes to beef things up over the 2-155. Dean B. would know the details.

I never did any work on the 2-180, but I believe the transmission and rear end is the same as the 2-155. I'm not sure which O/U the 2-180 used either. In any case, a 2-180 will last a lot of hours with heavy usage. The White 160 and 185 used the 4-270 extra wide rear end planetaries and wider transmission gears with a heavier O/U as well.

I have a 2-180 that has not run in a couple years with the fuel being empty. How hard will it be getting her cranked? Anything special I should do?

I'd be worried about the rack being stuck inside the injection pump or moving hard. It could run away. On the other hand it may not even put out any fuel if rack or shut off lever moves hard or is stuck. The injection pump does hold about a quart of fuel inside. If the fuel was good, the rack should be OK. They did have a problem with the shutdown lever below the shut-off solenoid sticking if the engine wasn't used regulary. Just remove the solenoid and use a hook to pull up on the lever and push it down a few times. The 2-180's have the heavier over/under like the newer 2-155's had. Early 2-155's had the lighter one. They are a good tractor. I really like my Series III 2-180.
