White 2-85 high crop

I've come accross a guy around here with a high crop 2-85. Kinda a neat tractor, but not something I really would need. First White I've seen high crop- anyone else out there got one, or know some information on them??? Looks like the drops have green paint under them- factory reinstall old ones, or did guys do that in the dealerships??

Maybe White 'found' some Oliver 1850 or 1855 high crop parts in the warehouse and offered high-crop 2-85s. Allis-Chalmers had a similar situation with some 7000-series high crop parts that escaped inventory, so after they were 'found', A-C made a few 8010, 8030 and 8050 high-crops with the parts rather than scrap them.

There are a few left around where I live 2-70, 2-85 and 2-105. They came out of the factory new in the high crop version. The reason for the green paint underneath is that white was using drop axles left over from the 55 series olivers. If you wirebrush paint on some of the early 2-70 white row crop tractors you'll find green. Take care

The dealer where I live bought new replacement highcrop components in the 70s and 80s from white. They werent using left over parts for the later 2-85 and 2-105. Agco even made parts new.

I've seen a couple 2-105 High Crops, as well as a 2-85. The American HC is mine. I wish I could find the American 60 HC that was build. It was in a salvage yard in Callifornia a few years ago, but got gone.
