White 2-85 muffler

I called the local Agco dealer yesterday to price out a new muffler for the 2-85 and, while it's still a little hazy, I think I had a heart attack when I heard the price. I think the man said $357 for one muffler. I have been looking around on the net for a better price but I can't even find a muffler for a 2-85, just 2-105 and 2-135. Anybody know of someplace that has a better price? Otherwise I guess I'll just have to cob the old one back together.

unsure if you coud do it as I am not sure of the actual setup, but 2 words come to mind after hearing that price..... STRAIGHT PIPE

Just my thoughts

One problem with the straight pipe is that the muffler has an aspirator tube. Which brings up a question. What exactly does the aspirator tube do?

A 2-85 has an aspirator tube? isn"t that for a Turboed tractor like a 2-105 or a 2-135? Can"t see any reason for one on a 2-85...

I thought it used the same muffler as the 1755, 2-70, etc... Those can be had for well under $100

It has a turbo on it. I don't know if it is original or not, but it's there. And as far as I can tell, the 2-105 muffler has different dimensions.

A turbo on a 2-85 definately isn't factory. That's what the 2-105 is. Our neighbor's have a 2-100 that has that tube on it too. Not sure if it would work or not, how much they cost, or anything else. That turbo kinda throws a wrench in my thinking.

I thought the aspirator tube was merely a way to discharge dust and material from the air precleaner out the muffler. didn't know it had any direct relationship to the turbo.

Don't quote me on this because I don't know a whole lot about Turbo's but I thought they only ever came on tractors with Turbo's (but not all of them) As it turns out though his does have a Trubo so I'm not too sure where that would have come from, unless it maybe has 2-85 sidepanels on a 2-105 or something odd like that.....

It is definitely a 2-85 tractor. I remember way back when I was a kid, we were looking at buying a 2-105 and the dealer had already sold this 2-85 so we went and looked at it and talked to the farmer about it. We ended up buying the 2-105 and were quite happy with it. Unfortunately, we sold it a couple of years after selling the cows in the Federal Buyout Program.
