Did the White tractors carry over the Oliver basic tractor? I have a 1555, good tractor for many years. Looking for more HP, would a White 2-85 give me the same service?
 
The first question is pretty broad. Some were Oliver, some were Moline, some were a combination of both, and some were new. Now for the second question. A 2-85 has a non-turbo 354 Perkins engine. They are supposed to be around 85 hp. Your 1555 has 55-60 hp. The 2-85 has a six speed transmission with the 3 speed over-undershift. Your 1555 probably is a six speed with a 2 speed hydra-power. You would be getting more tractor-no question. I think they are pretty reliable. Odds are you are not going to overwork it if you are replacing a 1555.
