Why does the distiributor cap keep cracking

My distributor cap keeps cracking where the #2 spark plug wire enters. I know how to get the tractor running again, but I would like some help figuring out why the cap keeps cracking. This is the second time it has cracked in about a month.

Front axle pin and bushing is wore out..

Greg.......as Sean sez: front axle bushing worn out. In the meantime, widen OUT yer front axle 2-holes. This will reduce the angle of the bounce and may spare yer 4-nipple crab-cap. Simple, eh.

Others gitt drastic and weld a BIGG-NUTT ontop of axle so it hits motor first. Widen axle is eazier. And SLOW DOWN so you don't bounce so much........Dell

As below comments with one additional - if your right radius rod is bent & you staighten it, you may get by without replacing the bushing - at least for a while.

Greg, you've received good advise. Just one more thought the King Pin is the real culprit. Replace it. It is not that big of job, just looks like it is. In a couple of hours you will be through and satisfied. In the mean time do as Dell suggest, widen your front end. By the way I have all my wheels widened out as far as possbile. I don't use my N"s for farming, but work food plots, logging road maintence and snow plowing. Feels very comfortable with them wide. Good Luck. Ron
