Wifes and Tractor pulling.

My Wife hates tractor pulling. Do any of you guys have the same problem. She doesnt want to hear about engines tires or tractor pulls. As far as I am concerned tractor pulling is the best hobby out there.

Mine was not too fond of spending every weekend in the summer tailgating and waiting for my 15 seconds of fame.. but I got her pulling, now she brings more trophies than I can... and it helps me out a little when I "need" something for "her" tractor! LOL

my wife hates tractors and tractor pulls..she says she rather watch paint dry...but my little 3 yr son loves tractors and as soon as he can pull hes already got it all worked out which one hes going to pull and which one my brother, his cousin and i are going to pull...lol. so my wife wont have a choice she will have to watch her son pull.

I gotta disagree with you guys...mine is pretty content spending all day at a good pull. She is always eager to learn more and about the only thing she gets sick of hearing is how GREAT im going to do once its all back together B-)

My wife was not to thrilled with my hobby till my little girl came along. I have a 2 year old that lives for riding on a JD, keep in mind I bleed RED. I bought and restored a 1958 JD 420W, that my wife could handle, p/s and foot clutch. Now she has no choice and actually enjoys it. I come home from work during the summer to find the JD out where my wife had given my daughter a ride. I am in the process of biulding a Farmall M for my wife to pull with the assistance of a couple of friends. Find common ground the wife will come around.

Nope. She loves it. Better driver than I am. When I have time to watch others pull and set the tractor up for her, She's tough. Guess I am lucky she likes the same thing I do.

My wife gets excited to see me excited about an acquisition I made or a pull coming up. When I bring a fixer-upper home, she's always out there with the camera to capture the moment. When she does come to the pulls, she wants to know about what time I will pull, then she'll come watch, take pictures and videos and then she's out of there. She really doesn't give a flip about tractor pulls, but, I think she's in love with one of the pullers. I think he loves her, too.

Lol In my case, my wife hates them with a passion that knows no bounds.. used to try to get her to go.. but why make me and her both miserable. So.. I do it alone or go with my best friend. Lol, she says her vision of Hell would be a track with pulling tractors going down it next to a field full of display tractors. The good thing is she can go shopping for clothes, etc. and be happy, because that to me is Hell.

Mine doesn't care for it either. And I only get to pull about 4 times a yr around here. She don't mind the plowing match and the shows but pulling is Silly to her.
She will flip when I get my 5yr old the 110 jd in the lawn mower pulls!

my wife is not fond of it either, but i have been able to get her to understand that it is something i enjoy....she should support me just as i do for her for things she enjoys (like going to movies...all her choice and they are ALWAYS chick flicks!).
we have a 4 yr old son, so she has always brought him to the pull for a while and takes him home when he is tired....as he gets older, it will work better for our family, he and i can go pull, mom can have a day to herself. i tell her, tractors and pulling are part of the package, they were part of the package before you met me and you bought the entire package...they were not a secret!

Mine just ignores it, except when she wants something, then she knows to the penny how much I have spent.

where I pull at, we have some girls that can really hold their own, they are many times in the top 5 or so, some of these gals are more die hards for the sport than their dads or brothers and even husbands. I can say that many times they are better sports than the guys, win or lose. Lucky my wife really supports me with this hobby, she cant take the heat all day long, but she comes out to the shady pulls and stays as long as my young daughter will allow her, I cant wait until my girl starts pulling, then I get to semi-retire, haul their tractors around and get to really watch for once. I have been doing this for 26 years. I also know some tough lady truck pullers here locally, they do very well also and know where the pedal is, LOL

mine doesnt realy care one way or another.got my youngest son invoved,an lost both for now,but he graduates this yr,maybe i can get one back inbetween going to watching play soccer, hopefully.

yes last motor build was a living room suit trade for silence

(quoted from post at 00:12:08 02/10/11) It's the bachelor life here at The Mopower Ranch. Tractor pulling is probably why.

So, the age old question is...

Do you tractor pull because you are single, or are you single because of the tractors?

My wife is a tractor pulling nut, would pull every weekend if we could afford it.She's got trophys setting all over the house. She is the Secretary of our club. She pulled the first time 4 years ago and won first place the first time she pulled. A monster was created.

Hummm...I thought I was the only one having to do this kind of trade out.....

When we became engaged I told her that I am placing my first stroker motor on your hand, then slid the ring on. I then told her the second stroker motor is mine and is going in my Super M, after it was built she really got into pulling, needless to say she likes both stroker motors.

Thanks for the comments My wife hates tractors. But doesnt understand that a person could be out doing a lot of worse things. Glad so see that other people have the same problem. Buying a tractor several years ago was the best thing that I have ever done. When you get a day off of work you can go and run the heck out of it. Good Stress Relief.

The trick is to get them on the tractor and pull.
Women are just as competitive as men, probably even more so. You put her on there and she loses, she won"t run it again until you make it better so she can win and she won"t care what it costs. More than one way to skin a cat...

I am a female tractor puller...we started out with antique/classic and I loved the smell in the spring the first time we started our tractors! We talk about it non-stop, watch it on RFD and pull any chance we get. We are now into "smoker" pulls and have built two tractors for that. Ladies, all i'm gonna say is once you've done it you won't want to stop!

lots of times this kind of problem is rooted in the fact that you have a hobby you love & she dont have one she loves so she not only dont understand but is envious & therefore the hate & dread & thinks its all a waste of $ etc. Maybe you just need to help her find something SHE loves as a hobby? idk

Dave sorry to say it man but if she has that approach to YOUR hobby she doesn't really love you.. You more than likely put up with her crap all year long and she won't even put up with your crap for a few months.... Like others have said I told my wife that I pulled tractors before I met her and I will pull them once she is gone.. Well she's leaving... and good riddance!

She almost tolerates the sport as an alternative to myself being in bars and watching the "ballet".
Our boys are into pulling and her Father has helped build some our tractors. So she puts up with it.
The tractors are still stock enough to be still used around the farm so that helps justify some of the expense.

WELL A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE LUCKY WHEN THIER PARTNER SUPPORTS THEM. MY LATE GIRL FRIEND OF 20 YRS,[PASSED AWAY,CANCER] ENJOYED MY OLD CARS, SHE DROVE ONE TO THE SHOWS,LIKED OLD CARS BECAUSE OF LOT OF CHROME ETC. SHE PROBABLY WOULD HAVE TRYED TO DRIVE/PULL A TRACTOR IF, BUT IT TOO LATE, FOR THAT DREAM. CAN"T BELIVE PEOPLE'S S-O DON"T SUPPORT THEM! [FUNNY IN A WAY DAVE, HER LAST NAME WAS THOMPSON ALSO]
