Will this work on a 9N

I have a front mount 1941 9N engine that I would like to change the wiring. I tried to wire my tractor to a 12 volt and I think I did it wrong. I was looking in the article section and the wiring diagram by Bob Melville for a Farm All Tractor. It looked like a simple wiring for changing to a 12 volt system. What I would like to ask, would it work on my 9N? I have the alternator all ready mounted, ballast resistor and all the parts. Thanks You for any help on this wiring diagram for my 9N.
MasserD,

Yes the same 12V conversion will work on an N or an M or a B or a 50 or a UTS or a DC 3 or a TO- 30

Brackets, belts, grounds, wire lengths and and locations will vary from machine to machine.
But a 12V one wire or 3 wire charging system is universal in the way it works. So if you have a good handle on what you are doing a Farmall diagram will work just fine on an N.

That is great, I am glad that I'm going in the right direction. I will rewire it and see if I can get it working. Thanks for your quick reply and I will get back with you on the results.
Thank You,

ditto what ud said.. but if you are doing the conversion on an N.. why not use one of the umpteen dozen N diagrams out there for this very thing.

I sure wouldn't try to fix a ford ranger with a corvette wire diagram?

that said.. there are some great articles on 12v conversions in the archives, and in publications like the N-news.. a magazine every ford N owner needs to read.

Yes, post your results. Pictures are always welcome.
Funny but you rarely see the Case, Allis, JD,
Massey, Minnie Mo, Ferguson, Ford or Farmall guys go through such whining sessions over 12V conversions like you do on the N Board.

I almost hate to add this reply, but I will just the same.My '41-9n works just fine with the 6v system it has had almost 70 yrs ago!!

I dunno, but there's gotta be a bunch of 12V wiring diagrams for N's here in the archives - might want to use one of them.......
