That is how it came up when I did it, and I did it a couple of times before typing this.
Welcome to the Forums.Hi. I'm working on a 1959 JD 630. I've been working on the wiring for the lights. Our tractor has a rear light mounted on the back of the seat. I've repaired and replaced some of the wires in the battery box area, even through the arm rest and replaced a ground wire from the seat to the frame. I also replaced the bulbs. Then I discovered no current reaching that area when I turn on the light switch. I followed the wires up under the dash. I pulled the panel forward so I could get at the light switch and see the wires there. To my surprise, the wires from the rear light don't go to the switch. It appears they go to some sort of resistor like thing. Both leads. I didn't see any other lead providing power. The resistor is mounted below the dash light on the back side of the dash panel where the tach, switch, etc. are located. I don't have a wiring diagram nor an owners manual. I do have an I&T manual. But they don't discuss lights or wiring diagrams. Also, I'd like to know what the various positions are for on the light switch. Mine has 'Off', 'I', 'L', 'B' and 'D' positions. Our tractor has flat top fenders with two forward facing headlights in each fender. Those I got working. Depending on switch positon, the inside lights are on, in another position the outside lights are on but inside ones are off, then in one or two positions both lights on each side are on. I presume one is for field work and one maybe for driving on the road at night. The rear light has two bulbs and a reflector, not a sealed beam like the front facing lights. There is a bulb through the reflector. The reflector has a red lens in one area. Behind the reflector red lens area is a second bulb. I gather when the switch is in one position white light shines to the rear. In another position the other light glows through the red lens acting as a 'tail light'. I don't know which switch positions they should be connected to. I hope you can make sense of what I'm saying. Any help would be appreciated. Sorry, I didn't take any pictures. Thanks.
