SM2017 is the real book

OMR2036 is the ops manual it does have a basic generator wiring diagram without a vr so I'm not sure how much that would help at the bottom if that happens to be what you are looking for it is a free download at the John Deere publications website. Otherwise search SM2017 for options. What do you happen to be working on the wiring?

I am anticipating a problem with amp meter wiring . I did not have good lighting, but it looks like a rats nest of wires. I' going to dig min next week. Wish me luck! Sometimes I'd rather be lucky as good! Thanks for the info.

Hi. I'm working on a 1959 JD 630. I've been working on the wiring for the lights. Our tractor has a rear light mounted on the back of the seat. I've repaired and replaced some of the wires in the battery box area, even through the arm rest and replaced a ground wire from the seat to the frame. I also replaced the bulbs. Then I discovered no current reaching that area when I turn on the light switch. I followed the wires up under the dash. I pulled the panel forward so I could get at the light switch and see the wires there. To my surprise, the wires from the rear light don't go to the switch. It appears they go to some sort of resistor like thing. Both leads. I didn't see any other lead providing power. The resistor is mounted below the dash light on the back side of the dash panel where the tach, switch, etc. are located. I don't have a wiring diagram nor an owners manual. I do have an I&T manual. But they don't discuss lights or wiring diagrams. Also, I'd like to know what the various positions are for on the light switch. Mine has 'Off', 'I', 'L', 'B' and 'D' positions. Our tractor has flat top fenders with two forward facing headlights in each fender. Those I got working. Depending on switch positon, the inside lights are on, in another position the outside lights are on but inside ones are off, then in one or two positions both lights on each side are on. I presume one is for field work and one maybe for driving on the road at night. The rear light has two bulbs and a reflector, not a sealed beam like the front facing lights. There is a bulb through the reflector. The reflector has a red lens in one area. Behind the reflector red lens area is a second bulb. I gather when the switch is in one position white light shines to the rear. In another position the other light glows through the red lens acting as a 'tail light'. I don't know which switch positions they should be connected to. I hope you can make sense of what I'm saying. Any help would be appreciated. Sorry, I didn't take any pictures. Thanks.

How does one 'look in your gallery'? I have no idea.
At the top of the page is a section marked Gallery. Click on it.
Then under Navigation click on Browse Albums.
Go to page 2.
Second picture in top row is JD wiring diagrams. Click on it.
Second row from bottom on right and last row first two on left are 630 diagrams.
That is how it came up when I did it, and I did it a couple of times before typing this.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH! Now I know how. I looked up what I needed.

Welcome to the Forums.

You can see Rodney51Cub posted the directions to M_MAN's gallery for Dick1234, so you can use those to find it and the diagram you need.

I suggest in the future you start a new thread when you have a question about your machine, not tag onto someone else's thread. Too often replies get mixed up between the two and just confuses things. If you can add info to solve their issue that is good, changing the subject by asking about your issue, not so good.

You can download and save a free copy of the Operator's Manual from the John Deere Ag & Turf Bookstore. Here is a link to the bookstore.

JD Ag & Turf Bookstore

Click the Equipment Publications button.

Enter 630 in the model search box. A dropdown list of machines with 630 somewhere in the title will appear.

Click on 630 in the dropdown list, it should open another window with the list reduced to the 630 group. I get a couple pages of machines (18 choices). I see three choices for the 630 Tractors on the second page. Review them and pick the one that best matches your tractor. To the right of the Operator's Manual title, you will see a download icon (down pointing arrow with a line under it). Click on the icon and it will download a PDF copy of the manual to your device which you can save to your files for review and printing whenever you want. The other John Deere Publications available for your tractor are shown there as well, however those you have to purchase in any form (you have to purchase hard copies of the Operator's Manual, only that download is free).
