Woods RM59 mower spindle assembly replacement

Trying to replace a spindle assembly on my woods rm59. Not sure how to remove the straight bore bushing from the old spindle assembly in order to take the spindle assembly off. I've removed the 2 cap screws but don't know how to remove the key that also holds the bushing in place. Any help appreciated!

Dale: It's a press fit. Believe me, you are better off buying the whole spindle assembly from Woods. About $150. each.

suggest woods web site. 2 years ago i down loaded the manuals and parts list for an L-59A sure helped me as it also gives the pulley alignment dimensions for each spindle.

I think that what you are talking about is the key that fits in the grove on the staight bore assebly. Your best bet is to put a lever underneath the bushing and tap with a hammer to pry it off the main fly wheel. To do this you will need to work it all the way around the bushing. It will eventually come up and sepparate.

Thanks to everyone that has replied. I bought a new assembly (complete) for $125 from my local dealer. Charlie - you're right on the money with the removal process. I think it was theoretically possible to remove the 2 hex screws on the bushing and then screw them into the 2 open holes on the bushing in an effort to separate it from the spindle assembly. Mine must be stuck since this method was beginning to bend the bushing. I've applied some liquid wrench and I'll try the gradual pry-off method that you've suggested. Wish me luck. The grass continues to grow...
