Wrong engine

I recently purchased a Silver King model 41 3 wheeler on ebay sight unseen except for the pictures. When the tractor finally arrived I discovered it was equipped with a Continental F163 engine rather than the original F162 engine. This is my first attempt at restoring an antique tractor. What should I do? Should I go ahead and restore it with the wrong engine or should I try to find a F162? How would the F163 affect the future value?

I am not trying to be smart, but do you understand the differences between the 2 engines. I also purchased a F-163 several years ago that had an F-162 casting number on the block.

Does the 162 have a dist. out of the head. If it has the dist/mag on the side I have a good f162 I would like to sell.

I guess I don't. I assumed the 163 was a later version of the 162, manufactured later than this particular tractor. There is a metal plate attached to the engine with model and serial # F163 4201A 13843. There is also a casting # on the lower right side of the engine F400A6078, I think. I'm pretty sure about the 78 but the 60 are a little hard to read. Can you give me any more informtion?

To answer your question sjh, my 163 has the distributor out of the head. Don't know yet about buying the 162. What were you thinking its worth. My e-mail is [email protected]
