Here in LA(lower Alabama) it is 16. I am only about 80 miles from the Gulf as the crow flies. They say that this will be the single coldest week we have had since 1977 or 1970, according to how cold it is the next few days and which records it breaks. Seems like that is the time frame that they were talking about the next ice age coming if I remember correctly. It finally got here.

The 'official' temp in Omaha this morning is -15. Mine reads -7. Supposed to get 3-5" of snow tomorrow, then windy on Thursday. Anybody have a truck they can bring to haul the piles away-I am not sure where we are supposed to stack the new, with so much of the old sticking around! Greg

Kinda balmy here in mid Michigan right now. Had a low of 20 above this morning. 22 right now. Forcaster said it was gonna get down to 21 in Jacksonville Fla tomorrow morning,so I can't complain. They said snow yesterday and not today though. Got that completely backwards. Snowing hard now,but nary a flake yesterday.

Gets cold here at night, around +28 last night. Might get into the teens a few times this wnter.Supposed to be close to +70 during the day . I'll take the heat for a couple of months in the summer for winters like this.

51 and raining in balmy SW Washington (8 AM). Overnight low 50, high today predicted 52. Almost worked up a sweat feeding hay this morning.

I am down here in southern MN, right next to New Ulm.

Was rescanning my digital TV channels this morning - too cold to go outside, had to do something. :) Anyhow, I'm picking up a set of channel 6s. Out of Duluth, getting their weather channel, which lists Orr.

Wish we got that sort of reception on an average day, we could get some real assortment of TV for free! That's about 250 miles.

By the way, down here in the New Ulm / Marshall / Mankato area we've had a pocket of cold that has broken records for 4, possibly 5 days in a row. Much colder than the 'Cities have had, and we are a little south of them.

Now they have 5 inches of snow with 20+ mph winds forcast, then back into the sub-zero temps right away.

Getting real hard to get round bales for the critters, between the near 2 feet of crusty snow, and hasn't been above zero in 5 days now trying to start a tractor, and that for a forcast.

We've been spoiled with pretty mild winters of late, I left 8 round bales off yonder about a mile away from the barn. Behind a swamp, couldn't get them until it froze over. Well, now the snowbanks are so deep, can't really go get them. Will run into the swamp issue in spring. Hum. Someone here in management needs to do a better job.... And with this deep snow and bitter cold, the cattle can't get to their cornstalk field either, so I'm gonna need all my bales for a change.

I was lucky enough to be stationed at Yuma Proving Ground for 2 1/2 years. We had three days in January one time that saw temps over 90F. In the summer, the OAT gauges on the helicopters pegged out at 50C (122F). They wouldn't go any higher than that. They wouldn't start coming down off the peg until we had climbed through 1000'. Freezing level was pretty constant at 13000' though.

Yep;; Olaf Hjuttenvildensen found out how cold it was. He stepped out on the porch to spit out a wadd of snooze; the wadd of snooze froze in mid-air and landed of his foot-- it broke his little toe.

About 6:45 am weather reports out of Mobile,Al. said we were at 21 degrees. This coming weekend we will be in the mid teens-don"t know if we are going to escape this without some pipe damage, hasn"t been this cold in years, and stopped preparing for these temps long ago. Also, they are saying Thursday may bring a 70% chance of wintry mix precip-if it does the auto repair shops will rack up.
