What oil do you use in your Yamaha UTV? Mine requires 10w-40. Normally I would default to Lucas, but not sure since this is the first oil change on this new-to-us machine.

It needs oil that is formulated for wet clutches. In other words. It needs motorcycle oil.
If you use engine oil for a car, has any additives or "energy conserving" type oils. You clutches can be damaged.

We run Honda's and they get Honda Gen4 10W30 and Honda filters year round. If I had Yamaha machines. I would run Yamalube and Yamaha filter in them. You pay $20-$25K for a machine. Why would you want to shorten it's life using cheap oil and filters in it?

That would most likely be a JASO MA or MA2 rated oil. Mobil One 4T is an excellent MA/MA2 10W40 oil, and probably costs about the same as the Yamaha-branded oil.

Now if you want save money on oil, Shell Rotella T6 is MA/MA2 rated. You would have to use 5W40, as it's not available in 10W40. Only the full synthetic T6 Rotella carries the MA rating.
