Up Mt Fujama and into the garage. J.d.here are some pictures of the crawler. Victor got it timed and loaded on the wrecker and up the drive under it's own power and into the garage. Took compression test on the cylinders ,as follows.#1 =100 psi, #3=110,#2=105 all held, No bleed down. 10 lbs oil pressure according to the guage.Cackles sweet.Still needs carb (slight) adjustment no miss or backfiring.Started right up after correct firing order was established.Let it run while on the wrecker to the house 1 mi from where it was sheded to the garage.Photos shows oil leakage at the rollers.some piece of steel looks like it was bent.(what ever it is)Throttle lever linkage is way out of adjustment and sticking. Left steering is out of adjustment. Gonna be a lot of work but FUN now that its here. Our profound thanks to you and all who helped to keep this old mans sanity by getting it to run at last,(after 5 years sitting). The previous owner helped a great deal with Heat & information on how it use to run.He put himself out by being there when we had to work on it.Swell fellow indeed.Now comes the interesting part, getting it back in shape. That's a nice looking machine. They're kind of fun to work on since the parts are relatively small. One note about the rollers. Just about nobody sells new complete rollers. They come in pieces, so you don't just "remove and replace." If leaking, you'll wind up buying bushings and seals (and maybe axles), not entire rollers. That is unless you got REAL lucky. Those undercarriage parts were still made new and used a few years ago in some esoteric mining equipment.

It does look like a pretty decent machine. Could the bent bracket have been a mounting point for a dozer model? Dave

Who knows? There were many convertible dozer/loaders for the HGs and OC3s. Can't say I ever saw one on the OC4 series. I do know that the OC46 series B was purpose built to be a loader. The final drives got mounted at different angle to push the tracks closer to the front bucket.

I forgot to mention . . that if your rollers are still fairly tight but won't hold oil anymore - there's a cheap fix. Just go to John Deere and buy some Cornhead grease. keep your rollers lubed with it instead of oil and you'll do fine. Deere used to sell special "track and roller" grease, and now markets it as "cornhead" instead.

J.D. Thanks for the roller lube idea. Will look into that as soon as we can get to the rollers. We Like the Idea of saving $ and at the same time making things last for a long long time. Your help and knowledge is truly remarkable to us get it running and fixed. I havn"t been under the crawler as of yet, Still trying to thaw out these old bones. Pictures were taken by my son Victor.Don"t know about the bent steel and you are most certainly right about having a bucket on it instead of a blade. Sure know the bucket arms take away the chance to walk around it to get it fixed. Will probably take the loader assembly off so we can get to what ever
needs to be repaired.If the rollers are badly worn, we will get the parts together to fix em .I like bench work just fine. The previous owner gave us the lube gun for the crawler so that was a great savings there. Over $100,00.
Like I said he was of help also telling about the crawler when it was running, along with the salamander heater. Victor just came back with plywood sheets to put under the crawler so we can get most the dirt off to get a better look at whats what.Will definately keep in touch with you. What I do know about the crawler,you can put in the corner of an eye and still have plenty of room left to see. lol I'm like Sgt schultz,"I Know nothing, Nothing"It's an all together new Ball game with me. Gonna learn though ,and rest assured we will need help(even with the manuals) from time to time. I was A COLD WEEK (SOLID) zero and better. Trying to get it running and home. NOW IT'S HERE !! Gonna take a couple days off ,then heat up the garage, start cleaning the dirt off the O.C.46. Warmest Reguards ,LOU & VICTOR
