Zenith knock off?

Anyone use one of the zenith copies? 3
cylinder 3600. The Holley that is on it is
a pos. Just wondering of someone has used
one of the cheaper ones and how it worked
out. Not used everyday. Just to move some
dirt or logs once in a while. Has a loader
on it.

Its been about 20 years, but I m pretty sure I replaced the Holley carb with a Zenith on my 3000. Its never given me a bit of problem.

Strangely those zenith knock offs are pretty good. Unfortunately the prices are all over the place $100-350. As far as I can tell after close inspection they are exactly the same. Maybe vendor mark up??

The Zenith replacements for Ford tractor Holley carburetors seem to work well for most.

Use more gasoline than the economical Holley carburetor but should be fine for most users.

Ive used about 4 or 5 of the chinese knockoffs with ok results.. One had to reverse or flip the throttle lever to the other side for a JD, but the fords were close enough. Running was good... and really much better than the old defective carb that would not clean up and adjust. I try to soak and rebuild them twice, then if they still dont perform, I but a knockoff on them and dont look back. Most of the carbs rebuild ok, some just dont. Hod a 3500 that the float stuck on, no matter what I did. Float was good..but it would fill up and run gas out no matter I many times I drilled holes in it. :) ^ months of rebuilding it, and I finally put a repop on it.

I just put one on my Ford 3000, and did a week's worth of work with a 6" chipper on the PTO. Absolutely no problems. The only thing I had to do to mount it was to move the gas inlet fitting on the carb to side (it was on the front, toward the distri butor). I just had to unscrew a plug and swap it for the fuel fitting.

This carb cost $70 on Amazon. It was listed as an "1103-0004" model. The only other problem: it was shown as coming with mounting studs and two gaskets and a fuel filter as a kit. Well only the carb was in the box.

But I already had studs, and I also had a sheet of gasket material, so I cut out my own gasket. An irritation but not a big problem. I gave a negative review about it but I guess whaddya want for less than a rebuild kit cost to get an entire new carburetor? Maybe it was just an accidental omission.

The carb itself was good looking quality casting, obviously CNC'd where needed, and everything fit, including linkages.

So yes I'd recommend them, at least the one I got.
