Your Location

There's a discussion about adding your location to your information. Please go to Site Comments and have a look. It would benefit most of us when folks post things that are area-specific. I'm not connected to the Administrators of this Forum, nor do I speak for them. I'm just a member concerned with making this work for the most folks it can. steve
Here’s my take. One Farmer gave us a map a few years back that was voluntary. My location is on that map. That’s enough!
The member that is positioning is fairly new and might not be aware this feature is out there. If I want you to know where I’m talking about I will include it in my post. If I really care I might tell you which post in what fence! Otherwise ask!

It is 100% voluntary here also. You can be as vague as you like or not at all.

I agree. I'm just suggesting there is a method, and if you want to use it, do so. Also, I did forget to mention the member map. It is another avenue of figuring out where who is if they seem to need to know. steve

I know about that map.

The method this new format provides is much simpler to use and is instantaneous. No need to open another site and then search for a member when the info can be right in front of you.

That's okay though, you do as you like.

I assume you don't use a cell phone. ;)

Exactly.

Which was my only point in bringing up the topic.
The topic is posed in this manner. “How can members be convinced to put a general location in their profiles?”
It might have been to be innocuous, but it does not seem to ring that way as written. It reminds me of a statement that was spoken by a past director of a fairly successful steamshow that I’m involved with that was stated as such, “How can we force more members to volunteer?” For some of us it might be like trying to convince a pig to load itself in that trailer. In my case, similar to the pig, I don’t care to give you my location. As I stated if I want you to know I well put it in my post.

I try to stay neutral in most involvement on this site, but if you feel the need to explore my living habits further in this matter that may change the dynamic. I have given you an avenue by my comments and I have given you my thoughts on the matter. I will leave it at that before I get “poofed”.

Man, I don't know what your problem is. I don't care what your living habits are.

It was just a suggestion, no one is going to hold a gun to your head and demand you to tell exactly where you live.

Is "General Location" something you don't understand?

Sure are a lot of crotchety living in the past afraid of technology and learning new things folks here, sure am glad most here aren't like that.

I could go on and speculate on aspects that you convey but I'll refrain from insulting our hosts who so graciously allow us to converse here.

I can give you a general location that might “convince”.
I would also like to applaud you on your observations of my physiological well being. I don’t believe I’ve been called “crotchety” since my great great grandkids held an intervention. Those darlings.

My wife calls me Grumpy. My little darling sisters call me Grouch. I've been labeled Crazy Steve more than once. I guess if the shoe fits, I'll wear it proudly. But I'm not Crotchety. You can keep that one db .;) steve

As accurate or as vague as you want. I can't find you if you tell me mid west or south or northeast. You are still safe, hidden among millions of people and addresses.

Holy cow, some folks are paranoid 😲. Ain't no one in this country ( USA) and on this forum living in total secrecy 🤣🤣 . " Big brother" knows plenty about you 😜. Kevin..... In Sylacauga, AL. (Want an address? Happy to give it out. 20+ people a month come to my place and buy tractor parts. Double that many get parts shipped to them, with my return address on the box). Now I'm scared , better get my tinfoil hat back on........
