4500 backhoe supply/return

Does anyone have or could you tell me where to find the supply and return hose connection on the tractor side of a 4500. I took a 753 off of 3500 tractor, but I do not know where to plumb it into the hydraulic system of the 4500.

Did the 4500 have a backhoe originally? If not, and it only originally had a loader, there is no place to hook up a backhoe to the existing hydraulics. You will need to make some modifications. Either the loader or backhoe control valve needs to have power beyond capabilities. If neither currently do, then you will need to replace one of the control valves.

The 4500 has a frame for a backhoe but I haven’t found any place to make the connections. I am not a hydraulics guy so not sure about the valves and power beyond.

TOH I will get some pictures later.
Sean The backhoe was originally on a 3400 with the main line off the pump going directly to the hoe and 1 line from the hoe going back to the loader valve and the 3rd tied into the loader frame ( I assume that is the return line to the pump)

If the lines to the backhoe were removed from the 3400 when the original backhoe was removed, you will need to add some lines. From your description, the backhoe control valve has power beyond capability, and so you want to re-route the pressure line from the pump that is currently going to the loader control valve so that it goes to the backhoe control valve. Then run a line from the port on the backhoe control valve that was going to the loader control valve on the 3400 so that it goes to the loader control valve on the 4500. You basically need to connect things the way that they were on the 3400, but you'll need to run some new lines to accomplish that.

I guess that there is a slight chance that the original lines for the backhoe are still there, and if they are, two of them will be looped to each other via quick-connect fittings and the third one would just be capped. That is how you are supposed to remove the backhoe while keeping the loader running.

I forgot to add, if you post some pictures of the back of the tractor we might be able to see if those original lines are still there.

Not sure if these help and they are not in any particular order. I think I have it figured out so tell me if I'm wrong.
1. Hose from pump will go to feed side on BH
2. Line from BH will feed loader valve at connection where feed line is currently attached
3. This is where I am not sure of but I assume that the return line from BH will connect to the hardline from loader valve (it is the hard line on the left and goes down under tractor towards the rear and has a plug on it now)
Please let me know if that is wrong.

The tank return line on BH valve goes to tank. Anyplace that dumps into the hydraulic sump will work. Be sure ypu correctly identify the power beyond return and tank return on the backhoe.

Is there a way to verify if the hardline with the cap on it dumps into the sump? This loader has a connection under the tractor that runs from post to post of the loader and I assume that is the return to sump but does not have a good way to tie into it.

Sorry. i dont know the details of the loader plumbing. I assume the loader is running off a pump on the fromt of the tractor and the loader frame is the hydaulic sump. If so it should be easy to find that connection.

Could you elaborate on that diagram Mark?

TOH
The tractor end is not correct but it is the same basic idea. The pressure line from the pump goes to the backhoe valve. The power beyond from the backhoe feeds pressure to the loader valve and the third line is return to sump. The tractor end is listed with the 4500 tractor.

I went back and looked at my tractor and found the T (item 20) on the loader frame that connects to the cross over tube (item 92). I assume that is the sump return?
Item 19 is currently connected to my loader valve (left hard line in my picture). So now I am confused because the diagram seems to show that 19 is jumped to 22 through 99 and then back to the pressure side of the pump.

So if I leave my loader valve in place then item 24 is my pump pressure side and would connect to the supply side on my BH. Item 19 connects to my power beyond from the BH and my sump return would connect to item 20.
I don't want to burn my pump up by making the wrong connections. I appreciate all the help.
