Oliver cables get hot

I am not sure what switch your starter has however I have to believe this site sells the switch. I very much doubt it is a proprietary Oliver part, I expect it is a switch that was used in a number of applications. A NAPA or other parts store should be able to get one. Post a picture of what you have, and someone can likely help you identify the right one.
I bet he's dealing with the kick starter switch? GG

Everybody has favorite tricks to get fuel cell tractors to start. On of the first things I have done to indirect Oliver’s diesels os replace the original starter with a gear reduction starter. Tractors spin a lot faster on start up and heat of compression improves.
If they had the old manual push starter I just added either a key or push button switch and necessary wiring. I know it’s not original anymore, but they start. I also install a 900+ cold cranking amp battery and a mini alternator.

My Oliver’s battery cables get hot and I’m not sure if it’s the starter or the ground wire. Is there any way to diagnose it.
why do you think it's a wire? As a kid I would take those rectangular batteries that had posts and run a wire from one to the other, the wire would get hot enough the melt crayons. Sounds to me like you are doing that. Something is completing the circuit. Ever get a shock from a cord? Same thing, you completed the circuit and started to heat up. It happening only when you hit the switch narrows it down.

So I found out my battery charger wasn’t charging the battery all the way and that’s why it was acting weird I got a new charger and now the tractor spins over fine but won’t start now.

PartsASAP/YT sells solenoids and saddle switches as well as cables, and provide free use of these forums. This is the tag on the side and I wasn’t able to find the correct size.

You said you are going to have the starter rebuilt. Use the easy way, show the guy the old switch and have him include installing a new one as part of the rebuild.

This is the original starter that came with the tractor. It never had a switch when I got it so I got one that was rebuilt but it doesn’t seem it.

You need a switch like the one on the starter you are using on the tractor now. Take a picture of that switch to show him and he can put one on like that one. Does the starter in the picture you posted have threaded holes for a switch? post a picture of the switch on your current starter and the switch area of the one you post the tag of. Then we are not guessing we think we know what you have, we can't see them, they might not use the same switch.

The switch on this one is much smaller than the one I need.

Is that a current photo? If so, I see an old fuel filter which probably isn't helping your cause getting it running, and an almost 90 degree bend in the fuel line.
What I see!
That looks like a canister type filter to me so likely the internal element type filter is new. Maybe you know for sure what I am saying is not correct. Even though the fuel lines weren’t treated the best I don’t see kinks in any of the bends so that looks okay to me.
Edit: Scooter, looking at your previous posts I see you are an Oliver guy, my apologies about the fuel filter you are likely correct.

It seemed like it ran fine when I had it running. Now I’m just having an electrical issue which I can’t make heads or tails of since there’s only 3 wires.
