    Carb Questions

    Another quick question. Any suggestions on how to get that throttle shaft bushing out? Havent' tried anything yet, but aside from prying on it, maybe easy-out? Possibly a tap threaded in couple threads and back it out that way? Bill

    I always seem to get a very slow drip of gas out of bottom of the bowl. Not enough that it puddles the barn floor, but it's always wet. So it sounds like it's working like it should be.     Think I answered my own question. In the master parts catalogue, it's P/N 9n-9694A, and it's called a strainer (carburetor lower body drain) - felt used with 9N 9692. Not sure I want to fiddle with it. This thing should very very slowly drip gas ... right?

    Attached is one of JMOR's photos from the carb cleaning link. I guess the reason I asked about #3 is this photo. Looks like cork, but as you said ... a sintered bronze insert. I guess I should probably leave mine well enough alone? Mine looks so much different I had to investigate. thx, Bill

    Follow-up related to my post couple days ago. http://www.ytmag.com/cgi-bin/viewit.cgi?bd=nboard&th=766420 Believing the ignition switch to probably be the power loss problem. This 9N has a 'toggle' switch instead of the normal key'd ignition switch. Will it make any difference if I go back...

    BTW - upon losing power and eventually dying, I can restart the tractor right away. Just no power.

    I checked the gas flow at carb right away and it was good. Also changed the fuel inlet elbow at carb with filter on it thinking I might have crud getting in. Same thing.     Our 42 9N 6v front mount dist. is losing power after about 1/2 hour of work. Sometimes sooner. Brush hogging yesterday afternoon when this happened. Gets so bad have to disengage PTO to get it back to barn. Limps along without PTO engaged ... this slowly build power enough to get home. Let her...
