PTO Rotation Direction
I remember trying that when I just got the tractor, because that's just how the reverse on my car works. I just tried it again with now luck. I can pull the stick up, and feel the spring in that case, but I'm not able to push it down. Maybe it is locked up? -

Ah I see what's going on now.I have the shift diagram from the manual, but can't find reverse on the main transmission. From what I've read, that's not uncommon on these tractors with a FEL and Sherman reversing auxiliary transmission. -

3D19 on the engine block. Does this mean the block was cast april, 1963? If so, is it reasonable to assume this is a 1963 model and not '64. I can't say this enough, but thank you for all of the support.im just a first time tractor owner trying to muddle my way through this. AG -

Hi All, I've got a '63 or '64 ford 4000, model 41301-S-D. The sherman auxiliary transmission is one of those switching jobs, 4 sp fwd, 4 sp rev, because I've read that was common for FEL configurations. My question, does the PTO change rotation direction based on fwd vs. rev? Doesnt seem... -

I think I can make out a 4 stamped ahead of the rest. The SN looks like a gone'r. Is there anywhere else I can pull a SN to get a good estimation for the year? Maybe a casting code on the block? Thanks for all your help! -

Ford 4000 Rear Lift Hydraulics
Sure enough! It was stuck. I don't see too much damage on the valve. I guess I'll lube it up, replace the seals and fluid, and try it out. Any other recommendations while I've got it taken apart? AG -
