    The place I got the governor from claimed it to be a rebuilt original. They will also pay a core charge for originals if you want to send them back. At least it didn't say made in China or India anywhere! Jim

    New carb, new governor. After installing the governor, it only would idle at almost 2100 rpm. Shop manual says to lengthen the throttle rod. Soaked the ends in penetrating oil and even sprayed whatever I could find that might help. It was adjusted as short as it would go, so the nuts were at...

    Fuel strainer

    I was blaming China for the junky one I bought, then I read the box and it came from India. So I cleaned up my original with some guidance from the forum and used the strainer screen and gasket from the one I bought and now it's all good. Except now I have to replace the governor... Oh well...

    Thanks Jim, got it figured out. The float was stuck. A couple of light taps on the side of the bowl was all it took. Fired right up and would only run wide open..... Governor rods completely worn out. Already have a vintage overhauled governor on the way. Hopefully can use it next week instead...

    I have fuel to the carb now, but none in it. I broke the line loose which allowed the gas to flow into the strainer and to the carb, but the carb bowl isn't filling up. This is weird. something so simple can be so complicated!

    OK. I cleaned and reinstalled the original strainer. Only blockage is the reserve. If I understand Bruce correctly, even with the valve on, no fuel should flow to the bowl if you have no leaks.     It is absolutely 100% plugged up. So I'll not worry about that one. Probably don't want that last gallon in the bottom of the tank anyway. That's where all the s#@ts at! Jim
