    1940 model A fan pully

I have a 1940 model A. The pulley behind the fan blade has come loose. It looks like it broke. How do I get it off? Can I take the shaft and housing off without taking the radiator out? Is the part available? Thanks Brian

    4400 hydraulic pump

I pulled the front mounted hydraulic pump off of my 4400. The splines on the pump shaft and on one side of the the metal coupling are bad. Does anyone have any good ideas as to where to order a new, or rebuilt, pump and the metal coupling. The drive shaft seems to be fine. Thanks Brian

    ford 4400

I just was playing around with the 4400 and I figured out( I think) that either the shaft that drives the hydraulic pump or the splines internal to the pump are bad. When I push and secure the shaft forward it worked long enough to get the bucket and backhoe up. If I have it at low RPM it works...

    ford 4400

I have a 4400 ford 3 cylinder diesel that the hydraulics stopped working. I thought that it needed fluid so I added some but it still didn"t work. In the past I have had the shaft for the front mounted pump move and I have had to reach down and move it forward. I did that and now I am getting...

    Model A

I have a 1940 Model A. I am going to change the transmission oil and I have a couple of questions. My manual says to use 140 weight oil. Is it OK to use 85-140? Also my manual doesn"t tell me where to check the trans oil. I am assuming that it is the large plug on the right side, (non flywheel)...

    Model 50 ignition

The compression is 75 or 80 pounds both sides. I have given up for the time being. I think the tractor will become yard art and I will just use my 1940 Model A.

    Model 50 ignition

I very much appreciate all of the suggestions. When I talk about the left side, it is the flywheel side. Also I know when it is actually firing or not. The cylinder does not get even a little hot. The right side gets normally hot, burn your fingers hot. When I pull the right plug wire it starts...

    Model 50 ignition

I have changed the condenser, built new spark plug wires, coil wire, and installed a coil from a 6V Norton Commando. It was handy. Nothing has changed. I swapped the distributor cap from my model A. I haven't tried the rotor yet, but will do that. It still runs nicely on the right cylinder and is...

    Model 50 ignition

I will try another coil later today. It has a newer coil on it now, one made to run without a resister. I will go to a straight 12 volt coil. It is a Delco distributor.

    Model 50 ignition

I know, It makes no sense. I have traded the cap from my model A. It didn't change anything. I keep trying to think of some reason why this could happen.

    Model 50 ignition

I have a 1953 Model 50 that I have had for a number of years. The motor was stuck. I just got it un-stuck. I have ordered the gaskets to put it back together. what is the torque settings for the head bolts and other than a cross pattern should I use a particular pattern when torqueing the head...

    powertrol single hose, double hose

As I said in my post, I was curious. I am going to use a model 45 loader on my Model A that has a powerlift, one outlet. The loader has 2 hoses per cylinder. I was curious if their was a way to use the original setup on the 1940 Model a to power the loader. From the responses it seems that I can...

    powertrol single hose, double hose

I am going to put the powertrol from my 1953 Model 50 on my 1940 Model A so I can use a Model 45 loader. I have ordered the gasket and will get it installed when I get the gasket. I do have a question. I went looking in earlier posts for information about the powertrols. It seemed like there may...
