    LA clutch housing problem

I agree a helicoil will work. If it's going into a blind hole you have to mind the tap type, tap depth and coil length; that's well-explained on the helicoil website and in the catalog.

    head bolts la jdeere

I have an after-market service book covering L, LA, LI and some LU. For the Deere engine, (not the Hercules) there are no head torque specs, only "Tighten capscrews evenly, from the center outwardly until all are tight." I have an after-market service book covering L, LA, LI and some LU. For the Deere engine, (not the Hercules) that is probably in your 1944 LA, there are no torque specs shown for the connecting rods or the head. For the head the book states "Tighten capscrews evenly, from the center outwardly...

My 1940 Model L with the Hercules engine has a flywheel with two marks on it. TDC and spark (or "SPK" or "SPRK" perhaps). We set the timing with an automobile timing light, with the magneto sparking right when "SPK" is visible in the timing hole on the flywheel housing. BTW before timing, we...

Rusty Metal Bits in Tire Bead

Greetings, I bought used tires that must have sat on a wet/rusty rim for years. The tire beads are encrusted with bits of rusty steel from the old rims. Is there a way to get that rusty steel to un-embed itself from the bead? So far I have been prying it off in small flakes with a...
