    No. 5 mower Inner Shoe

Bob, I looked on page 30 and see the older style guide, Z6010H but it looks interchangeable with the newer style Z8977H and that would not be compatible with the inner shoe that I have on. I also do not see the part number for the "older" inner shoe listed. What am I missing?

    No. 5 mower Inner Shoe

Thanks, but I'm not really doing a restoration as much as just fixing it up to be in a very nice usable condition. So the cheaper way out may be to look for the older guide PN Z6010H if someone has that for sale.

    No. 5 mower Inner Shoe

Thanks Bob. I had printed out just the pages of the 48 mower as that's what I identified. Apparently my father must have replaced the shoe in its lifetime with an older shoe he got somewhere else. Hence the other one was lying around. The mystery then would be to what happened to the guide...

    No. 5 mower Inner Shoe

I was fixing up my dad's No. 5 mower and I noticed the inner shoe is slightly different than what is the original for a 1948 mower. It has slightly different mounting for the front knife guide. The old "rusted" shoe in the photo has the PN Z541H and it attaches to the knife guide Z8977H by a...

    Deere #5 mower question

When using rivets to install the ledger plates in the outer shoe do you use the common #6 button rivet? Does the peeking of the rivet end up flush to below the plate surface? If not file? Or... is there a different rivet that had a tapered flat head that would go in so that the head would...

    Styled A seat parts

I am finishing up restoring a 48A and am looking for two parts to the seat. They are the pin A3335R and the spacer B2671R. They appear to be simple parts, although I never have seen them because they were not on the tractor when I started. I am hoping someone maybe has dimensions of these...

    Oil seeping into coolant

I recently rebuilt a JD 48 A (engine resleaved, a different head (old one did not pass leak check), lead washers used on studs. Engine was run for about 10 minutes in the fall; water drained because I have not added antifreeze and tractor was stored indoors but still potential for freezing...

1947 John Deere B Project (radiator)

I am not really recommending this as a fix but when I had a bad screw hole in my JD A I could not seem to repair it. Not wanting to go with a screw missing I was at a loss to fix it. My desire to fill the hole with braze and re-tap kept failing because the braze did not bond well to cast. So...

    Regulator wiirring 48 JD A

John Thanks for your reply. I also believe I have it wired correctly. I had read many prior posts and had that diagram. But my major question was in determining the load from the bat terminal on the VR. they both measure about 500 MOhms on a Fluke 335. So I really just used the order in the...

    Regulator wiirring 48 JD A

I need help identifying the terminals 1 and 2 on the regulator in the photo. They both appear to be an open or very high resistance to the base. Terminal 3 is aesssentilly a direct contact. terminnal 4 from the underneath has about 24 ohms. Based on the order I belive the wiring should be: Reg...

Who is the Best Restorer for my 1956 JD 420 utility?

Reminded me of when my dad saw his tractor restored. "Why that don't look original, the original had runs in the paint"
