    Antifreeze out of the exhaust

I finally got my 45 A running pretty good. I plowed 2 acres with it and took the disc to it. The problem I"m having is it sat for probably two months now. I shut the gas off and ran it out when I parked it. I went to start it yesterday and it spit out what looks to be water out of the exhaust...

John Deere A top speed question

That is way I would actually like the gear down a bit. I'm not looking to run it on the Bonneville salt flats. I honestly think it would go just about 25 mph pushing it hard. I never ran it full open. Your right it does get to be a handfull at that speed, that's way I think I'll keep it out...

John Deere A top speed question

I have a 45 JD A ser#558344. It has the six speed transmission in it. In the manual with 11-38 tires, the top speed is 12 3/4 mph. Mine has 12.4-38 tires and when you put it in sixth gear it will go 22-23 mph. About 9-10 mph in 4th. Most all the work is done in 1st or 2nd gear. Is it an...

    JD A shutters

Oh, I've been tring for about a year now. Found a nice set with all hardware for $800 on eBay. That's $200 less then I payed for the tractor when I bought it. I don't know I've heard that's the greatest thing I need to do to get it up to temp. so she runs good.

    JD A shutters

Does anyone make reproduction shutters for a 45 A? I'm having a hard time finding a good set with hardware. I can hardly get the tractor to warm up over 160F. I would like to get it up about 190-200 if possible. I did find an original set that looked pretty good, but the price seems pretty...

    Powr-trol question

Thanks, I got the pictures. Looks good I'll have to double check the plugs to see where they are at. Make sure the one is plugged off. Thanks again that really helps.

    Powr-trol question

If you have more suggestions, or pictures. That would be very helpful, I have a plug that is really short(almost looks modified, or broken), but it looks like maybe it goes to the top on, but I'm not sure. If it helps you could email me directly @[email protected]. I'm finding that a lot...

    Powr-trol question

I thought the original cylinder hoses went in where the plugs are. Mine come out the side. I will have to hook it up again and check the proper fluid level, make sure it's good. I tried it though and it didn't act like it wanted to lift it.

    Powr-trol question

I have a 45 A that the previous owner had ran two pipe thread elbows with the newer pioneer fittings on them. These come out of the side of the Powr-Trol unit. Right side. My question is do I have to do anything with the plugs in the back in order to use and keep the Pioneer fittings? The rock...

    Compression question

Does any one know how much compression a 45 John Deere A should have? I show 70-75 with the compression cocks closed and the thottle open after approx. 5-7 revolutions.

    A carb question

Does anyone know what is the original carb for a John Deere A All fuel ser#558344? The IT manual shows a DLTX-24. I thought someone said it was a 53? I want to buy a new/rebuilt one. Any good places.
