    Seed belts/ Closing wheels

I think the cupped belts will only help you if you have the 'Bulls eye' seed tubes from Precision Planting. I have one spike closing wheel but do alot of no-till with my planter. I like them and think they help close the slot but if you are in conventional tilage you shouldn't need them.

    Tell me about the 1020

When I was a kid back in the 70's I remember my dad looking at a 1020 but we never bought it. Ever since I have a thought they were a cool little tractor. I would like to have one just to play with. What were their strong and week points? I found a diesel with R+P rear axles which seems uncommon...

    4020 question

I bought a 4020 from my neighbor who bought it new. He thought he got it in 1970 or '71 but the serial number makes it an early '69. It has the side console hyd. levers. I thought side console was only on 1970-1972 tractors. When were side consoles built?

Need 489 NH haybine sickle drive gearbox

Back in the 80's I worked for a Hew Holland dealer and we did alot of warranty work on those gear boxes. Probably hard to find a complete gear box today unless you find a machine that's being parted out.

    Allis Chalmers 180 question

I always liked the Allis tractors of that era and am thinking about buying a 180 diesel. Have heard lots of talk about AC"s jumping out of gear. Is this a problem with this series tractor? Will it pop out if I take it for a test drive or does it need to be under load? What else should a guy look...

    jd 71 planter

The ring and plate are still availble from Deere. I wound up getting a B-1 blank plate and a BFR-2 filler ring from Lincoln Ag products and made a plate with only four cells(the Deere plate has 12) which gave me better spacings.

    Strawberry Picking in Ohio

Is that a hog barn in the background? Any pig smell in the berry patch? What are pre picked and U-pick berries selling for there?
