    lifter/valve adjustment

So I'm in need of lifter/valve adjustment on my 8n motor. Does anyone have any idea about clearance specs as well as step by step process? Thanks in advance.

    Noisy Valve

DO NOT use Red thread locker that you may want to adjust at some point in the future. As someone else said earlier, clean the threads and nuts with brake cleaner, let them dry, THEN use blue thread locker. Oil or petroleum based products/residue in the threads will prevent thread locker from...

Finally got my 9 1/2 N running, need carb adjustment.

[size=18:896b6a263f]So I FINALLY got the FrankenTractor aka "Maybelline" running. She fires right up but bogs horribly under load. I've tried adjusting the Idle Needle with no success. was hoping that someone could offer advice about the small screw on bottom of fuel bowl and Air/Fuel mixture...

    Carb Needed!

I have a 9N with an 8N motor. I got it running using a Chinese Carb, but it doesn't adjust properly to allow the air/fuel mixture adjusted so that it won't die while engaging the PTO. If anyone is parting out a 8N and has the original carb, please let me know. Thank you

    Tracing Down Lost Spark

UPDATE! I got her running today. However, I can't get the carb adjusted properly. The engine bogs horribly when I try to take off or engage the PTO/Bushhawg. I did get to do a little mowing however, the engine continually bogged and tried to die. I found that engaging the choke while...

    Tracing Down Lost Spark

Den, I was stationed at Fort Campbell from 2010 to 2013 when I retired. Not sure if that helps or not. So, I got the beast running today. however, she continually bogged horribly when I engage the PTO or tried to take off in 2nd gear. I found that while mowing in 1st gear, the engine...

    Tracing Down Lost Spark

So I have replaced the coil, condensor, points, spark plugs, plug wires. I don't have spark at the number 3 spark plug. I've got 12.3 volts at the coil, at the condensor, but somewhere along the way, the spark gets lost before it reaches the plug. Any ideas? Thank you in advance.

    I survived

I don't know the back story as to what happened. But yes, Thank God Almighty for not punching your ticket. I'm glad that you are recovering and I wish you a very prompt and complete one. As someone whom has had several surgeries and recoveries that took far longer than they should have, I...

    Electronic Ignition conversion

No such thing as a silly question, especially when you are trying to help me solve a problem. Yes, there is fuel, everything from the sediment bowl to the carb has been replaced and it gets fuel to the carb. Not starting is what initially started this exercise in futility. Tomorrow I am going...

    Electronic Ignition conversion

to be honest, I bought a 8n powered 9n tractor. The first day that I got to use it, I got a 1/2 of bush hogging out of it, now it wont start. I've done the fuel test, I replaced fuel line with steel line, sediment assembly, Carb. Then I chased spark, distributor rebuild kit, new wires, plugs...

    Electronic Ignition conversion

So I am really considering the idea of converting my 12v converted 8N motor to electronic ignition. Has anyone done this? What are Pros and Cons? Nightmares? Thanks in advance.

    8N Fuel issue.

Thank you for your advice. To clarify, I first thought of fuel filter (always check the easiest thing first), I replaced it with a WIX 33001 which didn't help. I drained the fuel from the old carb, thinking that it may be debris in the bowl, that didn't help. I checked the screen on the...
