    445 Tachometer Drive

Working on 445 diesel with cast side cover. Tach drive is mounted right in casting not like the later ones that have 4 bolts to remove. Books don't show breakdown. Tach shaft and gear is gone completely. Any know how to remove top piece. Doesn't appear to have threads.

    Oliver 77 Standard steering box.

I have a 77 in the bone pile, I don't really know anything about Olivers. I took a look and it looks like the bolster turns into a flat plate and is bolted to the tub frame. the steering box looks square with a square cover on top, the input shaft goes into the right rear of the box. I can take...

    co-op E3 4B153 white smoke

I have ordered the valve grind gasket set from Steiner, I'll be sure to make sure the head gasket fits correctly when I put it together. The old one appears to have been right, but it's certainly possible to have been wrong. thanks

    co-op E3 4B153 white smoke

The first thing I checked was the ignition and had great spark where it should be. Even when it was missing I grounded out the plug wires and got good spark. The manifolds are not water cooled. None of the plugs looked "washed" when I removed the nor does any one cylinder look different that...

    co-op E3 4B153 white smoke

Magnaflux was fine, I took it to Diesel Cast Welding in MPLS because I assumed it was cracked. They are the pro's and they gave it a clean bill of health and me a heafty bill as well. thanks

    co-op E3 4B153 white smoke

It was running fine when all of a sudden it started a huge amount of white smoke. After that it needs a lot of choke to start and needs choke to warm up and doesn"t have enough power to move for about 10 minutes. Compression is 130, 125, 130, 130, and was missing on 1 and 3. No bubbles in...

    2N oil in radiator

The owner tells me he flushed the cooling system last fall, filled it with new antifreeze and no additional pump lube. He went on to say that the reason he flushed it was at that time it had a half gallon of engine oil in the radiator. He doesn't run it in the winter, so he probably only has a...

    2N oil in radiator

My neighbor broke his front hydraulic pump drive shaft, in draining the radiator ato fix it, I got 1/4 - 1/2 cup of black engine oil (not the frosty malt stuff from a bad head or gasket). It uses a lot of oil and smokes pretty bad but runs actually quite nice. No coolent in oil pan, compression...

    8N PTO

Thanks for the response Guys. I have one I did the shaft swap on and I can't use all the old implements with it because after putting on the reducer the added length puts too sharp angles at the u-joints. I also got a belt pulley extension and tried using it but that also puts the pulley in the...

    8N PTO

I'm replacing the pto bearing, sleeve, and seal on my 8N. The shaft is machined so that all of these can be pressed on the shaft a half inch farther than it originally was. The spline extended 1 1/8 inch beyond the housing before disassembly. I've had troble with yokes hitting the housing and...
