Front Loader Seals - Model 40 Loader on MF 165

By slightly modifying the hard part of the seal, I managed to get it fitted and it works fine and stays dry. The type plate (in the photo) was removed by the previous owner for painting, and I can't find the old holes. Does anyone know where the type plate goes.? A photo would be ideal.

    Fuel tank sending unit

Many years ago I got the new sender unit for my 165 (897398M91) and measured it at 1 to 30 ohms. I don't think this is correct and it didn't work so I left it alone. I was also surprised how difficult it was to find info over these senders and meters I recently checked the sender which I...

Front Loader Seals - Model 40 Loader on MF 165

The two parts I now have are both part of the main seal. A bit like a combined rubber ring and (teflon) backup ring on the stack pipe? The wiper fits in the top slot (see photo) and has a separate part number. See drawing for numbers. Measurements are not 100% accurate. The Loader is a Model...

Front Loader Seals - Model 40 Loader on MF 165

I agree the seal is too thick. I split it into its component parts and fitted the rubber part of the seal easily. Is now almost flush with the gland. The remainder of the slot is now 3mm and the remaining seal part is 4mm. So now the decision to try to make the backup part thinner or fabricate a...

Front Loader Seals - Model 40 Loader on MF 165

Thanks for the answer damn1981. Let's me know I'm trying to use the correct technique. However "just slide it in and pop the rest in" doesn't seem to apply. Too much material and pretty stiff. It's a tight fit to get the first side in and when I try to push the other side in it twists and...

Front Loader Seals - Model 40 Loader on MF 165

A cylinder on my Model 40 loader was leaking slightly so I decided to replace the seals. I can't find any info about this job, but decided to start anyway. I managed to get the seals from an MF dealer. Part number 1853197 M1. I expected that the carrier for the inner, outer and wiper seals...

    MF 35 PTO clutch

My 1962 perkins 35 does'nt get used much these days and it's a while since the pto was used. It used to work ok, but when I tried to engage the pto this week it just grinds the gears. I adjusted the pedal to 3/8" as stated in the manual for a two stage clutch. I measured the three adjusting...

    Unrestored Fergy

In this case the tractor was already past the point of no return and you have definately improved it. The right decals would improve it even further.

    Fuel Gauge

My old Post - 10-01-12 My 165 sender unit did'nt work because the wiper was broken. I ordered a 897398M91N which was not an origional MF part, but looked like the one in my parts book. This did'twork correctly but I decided to live with it until I had the hood off. Finally got round to it, all...

    Unrestored Fergy

Looks just like one we had (without Loader) when I was a lad. - long time ago. Well done for resisting tempation and comments from those who don't know better. While I was admiring this one, I heard someone say that he should save up to buy some paint. I managed to resist responding -...

    Unrestored Fergy

Came across this unrestored (barn find) Fergy and was very impressed. There were many other tef's & 35's most of which were painted the wrong colours. This got me thinking how rare such a tractor is. Once "restored" to better than new, so as many are, they can never be returned to their...

Injection Pump Repair - Perkins MF35

Well the old girls up and running again. Got the rollers free'd up by rolling in diesel. Let some carb cleaner soak in behind them and then applied compressed air to a port to get them moving, more diesel as lube and then bench test - ok. I was thinking of selling this ( my first ) tractor...

    Injection Pump MF35

As I understand it. As long as you mark the exact position of the disk that regulates the amount of travel of the rolers, and put it back exactly the same position then it should be ok. I don't really want to take it apart, but the rollers are / were a bit stiff and I assume that the reason why...
