Throttle Control Lever for a 2135

Check the throttle linkage at the front of the motor as well - getting the U-shaped throttle clamp set correctly is a bit of a pain. This video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=31M3s0iOLQk&ab_channel=BundyBearsShed goes over the throttle and governor adjustment. My MF35, which uses the...

    MF 40 stuck in forward

Same thing happened to my MF35, which has a lot in common with the MF40. The shifter is likely stuck between the sliders for the shifters. You can use a pry bar through the fill hole and you [i:5bdf3108e0]may [/i:5bdf3108e0] be able to slide it free. You can also try jiggling the shifter...

    1962 MF35

I bought a '61 this year for $1,200, in worse cosmetic shape but a solid runner. Spent about that again in gauges, fluids, wiring, carb kit, steering bearings, tie rod ends, etc. Rear tires are pretty worn and weather checked too. Anything is worth what someone is willing to pay, of course.

MF 35 - Carb Tuning, Fuel questions

1961 MF 35, with the Z-134 Continental gas engine. Rebuilt the carb, cleaned and sealed the tank, full of fresh non-ethanol gas. Starts, runs, idles okay. Marvel Schebler carb. When I initially went through it, I did take the throttle control shaft assembly apart, and it took me a couple...

MF 35 Utility - Replacing draft control plunger

My tractor came with the IT manual - it's 80 pages, so pretty slim overall. I ordered the full set of manuals off of Jen Sales (paper and digital) and they're the actual full-length manuals - the service manual is 411 pages. The IT manual will give you the basics, but the full manuals are a...

    MF 35 - Starter Issues

The dash tag says MF35, model SGM 218137, which now that I think about it and double-check, means it's a '61 model. I'm leaning more that someone just ordered what they thought was right and put in a 6v starter off of Amazon or eBay. The NSS was the first thing I checked. I have a pretty...

    MF 35 - Starter Issues

The book seems right - the title page is for "Ferguson 35", and the 12v starter matches the 182454M92 picture at https://parts.agcocorp.com/en_US/apbsearch?q=masseyferguson/651093/l&c=00-00&name=TABLE%20OF%20CONTENT - it's the same photo. The long-case and likely 6v starter doesn't...

    MF 35 - Starter Issues

It's a gas Z-134 Continental. How did you get the reference 190 004 M91? That's different from what's in the parts manual I have (from Jen Sales). Took the 6v to the shop and will see what they find.

    MF 35 - Starter Issues

I have a 1960 (per model number) Massey 35 I purchased several months ago; the story I got is that it was pulled from a tree row, got running, and then I bought it running. Alternator is a GM-style 1 wire; battery is 12v, negative ground. I replaced all the gauges and wiring. From what I can...

MF 35 - Front Track Width - pros, cons of widths?

I have a '60 MF 35 with the adjustable width front axle. For whatever reason, the left side is set wider than the right. The rear spin-outs are all the way in, and I don't plan on fighting with them. In other words, I think the right is set up at 48" spacing and the left is set at 52"...

MF 35 - Trans Flush - New Fluid Options

As an update, I was able to find a 20% coupon at NAPA and went ahead with the SAE 90 GL-1 gear oil. I let the trans drain for two days, leaving some lovely latte art in my drain pans. If you can jack the right side of the tractor up a little bit, it helps, since the plugs are on the left side...

    135 . STUCK IN REVERSE

This issue happened with my MF 35. From what I've researched, either the shifter spring may have broken or (more likely), it's just jammed. You can try using a pry bar through the fill hole on the left side of the shifter to push the shuttles back and forth to un-jam it. You can also move the...

MF 35 - Trans Flush - New Fluid Options

Wow, thanks for the photos. Do you think it's worth pulling the lift cylinder to clean out the trans? It does not seem too complicated. The 3 point lift works, but I could only test it generally and not with any weight on it. Thanks again.

MF 35 - Trans Flush - New Fluid Options

Purchased a 1960 MF 35, going to give her a full service. Trans fluid has some water in it (milky color), so I am going to drain, flush, and replace. I've read to flush it with diesel, maybe using a pump sprayer, and then scrub out what gunk I can. Does that make sense? I found SAE 90...
