644a oil pan, 6-404 pan compatibility

Good info guys, thanks. Now that I ve got the pan off I m debating an epoxy repair. I can fill in the entire bottom of the sump with some jb weld and then paint that all with glyptol. Looking at all the options right now. Why wouldn t a 4020 pan work? This post was edited by North Maine...

644a oil pan, 6-404 pan compatibility

Does anyone know if all 6-404 oil pans are compatible? I cracked my 644a s oil pan trying to extract a broken fitting and I d rather not do an epoxy repair but finding the construction specific oil pan is proving very difficult. I have the space under the engine for a different sump arrangement...

644a injector with soot around it

Is the special tool a must for this job? Is it possible to get a 12 point crows foot in the right size to get this done? Anyone know offhand what size it is? I can?t find any mention of the special tool OTC- JDE-96A online... something the dealer has perhaps? Of course this injector is the...

644a injector with soot around it

While running my 644a today equipped with a 60s vintage 6-404 diesel I saw some soot around the #3 injector. Upon closer inspection. I could see the injector moving with each compression stroke. I?ve never pulled this type of injector before... my 3020 and 2955 are/were pencil style...

    Pint Hierarchy

I agree with what you've written, with one caveat that I've seen that 'Urethane' and 'Polyurethane' are often used interchangeably and this makes the separating line murky. We also go down the path of "best" without specifying WHAT is the priority characteristic that makes the "best". If...

    Pint Hierarchy

though to be fair it appears the "resin system" you reference is either epoxy or acrylic. But its hybrid nature is a bit more complex than your hierarchy.

    Pint Hierarchy

I'm afraid that's incorrect. http://www.polysiloxanecoating.com https://www.ppgpmc.com/Infrastructure/Infrastructure-Featured-Products/Signposts/PSX-700.aspx its for sale for $250 per kit online...

    3020 Color Question

Under the hood is the same green seen on the frame rails in the pic. “Ag green” or close to it. I’ve seen some pea cream on the nose plate and it looks to be on that entire plate seen in the pic, so I don’t think it was an antifreeze stain. Kind of a weird paint color. I’m going to paint it...

    Powder coating sheet metal

most epoxies hit their "glass transition temperature" where they chemically start to breakdown around 140F though I know of some marine industry tank linings that are rated for 180F. Never anything as high as powder coat baking temps thought.

    Degreaser

for me its a LONG scalding hot pressure washing with a 15 degree nozzle, followed by foam lancing dish detergent, hot water wash again. Anything that remains I hit with brake cleaner, small wire brushes and rags. I've also wanted to try out mixing up a mild hot water and lye solution...

    Powder coating sheet metal

Yes that is the process, however that “only thing that is different” is a significant difference. Powder coating frequently suffers undercutting at a scratch or chip that leads to large scale coating failure. While this can also happen on a traditionally painted panel it is far less likely on a...

    3020 Color Question

Yes I know... ANOTHER John Deere color question, but please bear with me. As I'm water blasting, needle gunning, and paint stripping my tractor down preparing for paint this summer I have blasted off a few coats of paint... one was a coat I put on with a rattle can right after I bought the...
