    9-11 where were you?

Getting ready to leave the office on a service trip. One of my co-workers had the news up and hollered out "somebody just crashed a plane into the World Trade Center!" When we watched it again on the screen, we all just went numb. Felt nervous about travelling out of town, wondering if...

    Tried to go Plowing

Thanks, Butch. I'll take a look at the link length to see if it needs to be lengthened. Lots of good information for me!

    Tried to go Plowing

I need some help from the experts here... Last weekend, I tried to go plowing with my WD-45 and a model 53-14 fully mounted plow. The plow would NOT sink into the ground. I tried adjusting all 3 spots - the "beaming" screw, trying both lengthening and shortening it, and both lifting link...

    Tire WFluids

Hi Again, guys, I just looked up the weight of methanol - it's 6.56 lb/gallon. That makes it lighter than water (8.33 lb/gal). That means less weight in the tire. I guess I'll go with chloride. Thanks again for all the responses! Phill

    Tire WFluids

Thanks for all the responses! I wonder what the density of the methanol mix is? I'll have to look that up. Sounds like calcium chloride is the choice of most. I'll just have to watch for leaking valve stems and keep washing drips away. Thanks again! Phill

    Tire WFluids

Hi Guys, I need some opinions on what fluid to use for weight in my WD-45 rears. I put RimGuard in 9 years ago when I restored the tractor. I didn"t want to have any problem with rust on the rims I had to rebuild. After 8 years, I"ve had to replace the tubes on 3 of the 4 tires...

    870 heavy steering

I am rebuilding a early 870 with power brakes, steering valve and old style hand pump. These earlier tractor ussually required more effort to steer than the later ones. Does anyone know if there is anything that can be done to improve this condition ?

    IH Backhoe Identification

I am looking for someone to help me identify the Wagner backhoe that is attached to my 1960 IH 460U. I believe it could be either the 45, 65, or 95 but there are few markings to make identification simple. The markings on it read: "C31501-4", "10-26-59", and "41". I will try to post pictures...

Stainless bolts are soft. Don't use them. Very prone to stripping or galling.

    Calcium damaged Rim

With the help of a friend who's a good welder and a press and an anvil, we fabricated pieces of steel (1/8" thick) to fit the shape of the rim and replace the rusted-out section, which we cut out. Not too hard, a couple hours work one evening to do both rims, and felt good about our job and...

Overhaul kits on G226 power unit engine (d17 and Gleaner E)

I got mine (for a WD-45 tractor) from Sandy Lake Implement. Brenda was very helpful. Several options to choose from, rangine from stock power-crater pistons to flat-top high compression ones. I'm very happy with the outcome.

    not sure about Petronix

I have the Pertronix units (12V, positive ground) that I got from Genesee in one of my tractors. It has worked flawlessly for better than 5 years now. Haven't had a problem with it at all. I just recently bought another one to put into my TO-35, also 12V, positive ground. Can't say enough...
