TO-35 governer ???

On the 35 i just looked at there was a spring holding the governer arm back(not a factory piece). If removed the engine would rev way to high, so I am sure the governer would need work. my ? is how much of the tractor needs to be taken apart to get at the governer. I looked in the archives and had no luck. thanks.

If you have a parts book or a service manual you could look in there and see what they say. If you don't have them I am sure someone will be along shortly to help you.

There are two springs on this governor, one on the vertical rod and one on the Link rod attached to the Thermostat housing at the front of the tank. They are special springs, unless they are the right ones and it is adjusted correctly the Governor will not work. It may not need any major work only resetting.

If you do end up needing to go farther into the engine to troubleshoot the governor, a lot has to come off.
-Drain Radiator and engine block
-Remove hood
-Remove radiator
-Take tie rod ends out of front spindle arms
-Block tractor up uner the engine
-Remove front axle pivot casting - 6 large bolts
-Remove large crank bolt inside crankshaft pulley
-Remove crankshaft pulley
-Remove front timing cover (bolts around rim of cover and up into cover from oil pan below)
-Governor is inside front timing cover and in end of camshaft

Not a casual job. You will need a hoist to lift axle and pivot casting off.
