    144 diesel question

I am working on a friend's 641 diesel. It has the 144 diesel. Thanks to all the info here I now know that it will be almost impossible to find parts to rebuild the engine. I am gonna see about getting a 172 to swap. I am wondering if the injector pump off the 144 will work on the 172? Also...

    641 diesel glow plugs

I am in the process of re-wiring the tractor so that the glow plugs work. I purchased new ones and have the wiring diagram so that part is OK. I am curious though how they work. I am wondering if I have to cycle them like modern tractors where there is a timing relay or do they stay on once the...

    641D starter switch

There is another solenoid mounted further up in the dash. That appears to run to the two plugs mounted in the intake manifold. The plugs are not hooked up and present owner says he has never used them. Tractor starts right up without them. I would like to have those working also.

    641D starter switch

I would like to restore the tractor to original starting system. It appears that someone rigged a solenoid from another vehicle and wired it to an aftermarket push button switch. I have the original solenoid and want to purchase the original style switch. The tractor is currently 12 volt. I am...

    641 diesel throttle issue

I am helping a friend with his 641 D. Throttle will not stay put when you throttle it up. I notice a spring under the throttle shaft and a spring washer on the (what i"m calling) the pivot under the battery tray. I do not see any other springs of anything else at the injector pump. Will a new...

    plow set up confusion

I spent some time trying to learn the correct way to set up my plow. There is some excellent information and advice and I appreciate that very much. However, I have read at least one post suggesting that the left side of the tractor be driven up on a 6 to 8 inch block to set the plow. On...

    Using equipment

I grew up farming. Small family plots for food so we always worked by hand, planting cultivating, etc. The only thing the tractor did was plow disc and level. I still do that but want to do more. I have the tractors but do not known how to use them properly to plant, cultivate etc. I have...

    VAC oil leak from head

I was gonna replace head gasket, etc. cause of an oil leak. On closer inspection, it looks like the oil is coming from the stud that is located on the right side (for a spark plug cover?). I moved the stud and seems to be loose. Also, there is some silicone where it looks like someone tried...

    ebay gasket set

I am thinking of replacing head gasket and valve cover gasket on my '51 Case VAC. Saw a reasonably priced set on ebay. Are these good quality or do I need to be aware of anything?

Some people should not own chainsaws

Sounds like it could have been George W. Bush! I saw him using a chain saw on TV once and sure am glad I wasn't anywhere close!

    DLTX throttle

I rebuilt my DLTX on my model A and everything is working except the throttle shaft is pretty tight. I put in new bushings so I think I need to ream the bushings but want to know the best way to do this or if anyone has any other suggestions to loosen up the throttle shaft? BTW, Robert"s carb...
