    Hyd. Control Valve

Thanks TOH and Jock(OR) Great advice. I'll do this check this weekend. I never would have thought about this method of checking for internal leaks on a Hyd. cylinder. Thanks again Clay

    Hyd. Control Valve

I've been able to work the lever a little and stop it from leaking down as fast as it is now. This does not work now so I assumed it was the control valve. Is there any way to determine if it is the cylinders or the valve?

    Hyd. Control Valve

The Hyd. Control Valve on my 1957 Ford 850 loader (see attached photo) is allowing hyd. fluid to bypass causing the bucket and arms to leak down. Can this control valve be taken apart and "O" rings replaced and if so how do I get it apart or should I remove the Valve and have a Hyd. repair shop...

    8N Distributor

Yep Bob you are right. It is aluminimum to aluiminum. If I can't get it loose, I guess I will have to buy a distributor and the cover. It's not looking good to save either one. Clay

    Dexta rearend

I just got a 1962 Fordson Dexta that was going to the scrap pile. It has a 3 cylinder desil engine and a high-low transmission. Haven't looked at it much but the rear tires and rims look like the same as on my 850. I was going to ask the same question this morning about any of the parts being...

    8N Distributor

Just read all the post this morning. I appreciate all the response. I sure the distributor should come out of the housing. After soaking with ATF, I finally got the shaft to turn by tapping lightly on the gear. Still can't get the distributor to turn. I will try a little heat tonight and...

    8N Distributor

Old: I have it off the engine. Its just the distributor and the housing. Got everything freed up on the engine except for that. I put it in my vice to work on it. I guess heat is the next option. Clay

    8N Distributor

Yep. Tried the strap wrench like you suggested about a week ago. Let it set another week in ATF and diesel and tried it again. Lightly tapped on the gear with a small hammer and chisel. No luck. This thing is really stuck. My next option is heat but I wanted to ask you guys is it would...

    8N Distributor

Yep. I know not to put my blow torch to it. I have one of those cheap hand held torch that doesn't put out a lot of heat. I was going to just heat it up a little and see if it would loosen it up. Just wondering if a little heat would hurt the cast housing. Clay

    8n Engine Ready for Primer

I know this question has been asked a lot but here it is again. Got my engine ready for primer. Going to prime it before I start going back togeather with the new parts then wash and reprime after it is running. It is mostly paint free. I bolted most of the parts back on it so I will be...

    8n Engine Rebuild

I've read in previous post that some people are dead set on the tolorances shown in the F-04 manual. If you are planning on bushogging 10 hours a day in 100 deg. weather you need to follow all the guidelines. However if you are only going to load and unload the tractor for shows, you can have...
