    My 67 504 would not warm up so I pulled the thermostat. It is not the standard automotive type. It has a butterfly valve and stuck in the open position. Is this type of thermostat required or will a standard automotive type work? What temperature is suggested, 180?

    On 49 8N, I am replacing the axle hub and seal. The axle was a bit loose so I want to adjust the shims. When I removed them I noticed there was a thin paper gasket next to the brake back plate and one between two of the shims. The rest had nothing. Should there be gaskets between the shims? I...

    I have most of my 49 8N repaired and painted. All but the hood. The primary point of rust is between the inner frame and the skin. There are a few pinholes through the skin. I would be interested to here how others have addressed this. Would I be better to post this in the bodywork forum?

    About 3 years ago I had the gas tank on a Super A clean and coated at a local metal finishing company for about $200. The tank on my 49 8N is full of rust. I see a new tank on Amazon from Tisco for $123.95 and free shipping. Any opinions? New tank or rework old one.
