Tire chains vs ARPS half Tracks

Back in the 60's I used an 8n with arps half tracks for collecting map sap to boil it down in an evaporator for maple syrup. Collecting sap in the spring was a muddy affair and the tracks made it possible to drag a trailer with a 100 gallon tank in it. It sort of floated us from rock to rock...

    2N new breakerplate problem

I just installed a new breakerplate in the distributor of my 2N. The old one had shorted out at the terminal where the coil touches and the condenser attaches. I was disappointed that I had to use my old breaker point screws and had to file material off 2 rivets on the bottom of the plate...

    fixing oil soaked brake shoes

I'm replacing the oil soaked brake shoes on my 46 2n ford fergie. I've pulled the axles and cleaned the drums etc. and have new shoes to put back on. Before I get the shoes on I will test for axle spacing by spining the wheels etc. and shimming. I will spray the drums with brake cleaner...

    Doglegs with no pivot hole

My doglegs on the 2N are in great shape. I just got these at the auction because they looked good. They appear to have been in storage for quite a while and have no dents or rust holes. They have been painted a couple of times. I'll clean them up and see what happens. Rustyfinn

    Doglegs with no pivot hole

I picked up a pair of doglegs at an auction yesterday that are the right size for my 2N but they do not have the bottom hole for the pivot. Does anyone know why the hole is not there or what tractor they might be for? Thanks Rustyfinn

    tight yoke

That sounds like a better idea than heating and twisting. I can cut a washer from solid round stock to thickness needed on a lathe etc. Many Thanks Rustyfinn

converting ferguson a4 from 2 bottom to single bottom

I have an beatup Ferguson A4 2 botttom 14" 3 pt. plow that I purchased for $25 last fall at an auction. It is missing a coulter and has a weld on the larger beam. Has anyone heard of taking the larger beam and flipping it up and reconnecting it together to make it a single bottom? I could take...

What is good price for dearborn 3 pt 6 foot disc?

I'm going to an auction that has a 6 foot Dearborn 3 pt disc listed. If the disc appears useable what would a reasonable price range for it be? The sale is in western Wisconsin. Thanks Much RustyFinn

How much weight can be added to the front of a 2n

I'm going to fabricate a grill guard for my 2n. I want to make some provision for adding weight at the guard when using a disc etc. on the 3 pt. I'll bolt through the front axle similar to the factory guard placement and can use homemade weights from scrap plate that i have. How much weight...

    grabby right brake

I've been lurking here for a month or so. I recently recieved my grandparents 1947 2N from my stepfather. I had used it for plowing, discing, hauling etc when I was a kid. Since picking it up, I had to clean out the hyd/diff, air cleaner, oil filter cannister, and refill with clean...
