    Massey 165 steering wobble

I have a friend that has a Massey 165 and he says that he can"t drive it on the road because the front wheels wobble so bad he can"t hold it in the road (power steering). He asked a mechanic about it and was told the bushings in the power steering part were worn and the tool to replace the...

    Tractor Forum????

He's more uptight than me!!! Hey, Dell. Got got my tender little sensibilities all bandaged up now. (Heh, Heh!) Elvin, this is not a place to "get away from it all", It's a place to get greasy, frustrated and your knuckles barked. All in the company of some of the greatest guys in the world...

    Left lift link

Sorry guys, didn't mean to be touchy. It's just been a long, disappointing, expensive day. On the adjusting link, there is a groove in the part that screws. It looks like it's something from factory. I saw the term "leveling mark" used on this site referring to the adjustable link. I assumed...

    Left lift link

Makes the right link run real low... not much threads screwed in to line up level... If I want to drop right lift arm to hook up to an implement, I run out of screw. Sorry if my questions annoy you. I thought that was what this forum was for. I try to get as much done and glean as much...

    Brake shoes

They are on the tractor and I only have one wheel off but I will be removing the other next weekend. Thanks for the get back. John

    Left lift link

Is this the correct link on the left side? When I line up the leveling mark the right side is way too high.

    Brake shoes

Sorry, I keep forgetting to post year/model. Early 48 8N. Mfg. '47. Guess I'm just gettin' old... forget what I'm doin' while I'm doin' it. By the way, how do I tell the upper from the lower brake shoes. PO installed new brakes, but both shoes look the same to me. Happy Trails, God Bless. John

Pete, actually... What the heck, you're probably right. Thanks for the flowers. Happy Trails, God Bless. John

    Found the Skreekie, Skreekie

Pete, the reason the lug heads were rubbing the brake springs is that the hub is so worn that it goes too far onto the axle. Far enough to hit things it should be easily missing. Some PO, (#@%! I was hoping that meant something nasty!) rather than replace the hub, ground off the heads, part of...

Dell, Thanks for the lug torque. Will save me some lookin'. That's exactly why they were there, but wear was so bad they didn't do the job. What is a PO anyway? I hope it's something particularly unsavory! 8-D Happy Trails, God Bless. John

You called it as if you were looking right at it. I posted "found the skreekie, skreekie" before I read your post. Happy Trails, God Bless. John

    Found the Skreekie, Skreekie

Bob, Dell, Ya'll nailed it! (What is a PO anyway? If it's a really nasty name that I can call an idiot, please tell me.) The washers were behind the brake drum to keep it from rubbing on the backing plate but even they could not bring it out enough to stop it. About 1/2 the thickness of the lug...

    Hub

The threads are good, just my lousy photography. I noticed that the right axle is flush with outer edge of axle nut. Left axle protrudes beyond axle nut by 2 to 3 threads. My main concern now is that I put the wheel back on to move tractor into garage (looks like this might take a while) and I...

I assumed these were supposed to be there, are they? (This is my first photo post, forgive me if it's clumsy.)
