    CaseIH 485 steering cylinder mount

The story continues. I bought a steering cylinder from Amazon. The only problem I have is that the end of the shaft with threads must be slightly undersized. I can't get it to stop leaking. I have tried several o-rings, German spec RTV, hard-setting gasket maker, and nothing has lasted. Is...

    CaseIH 485 steering cylinder mount

Yes, that is the setup. I guess the threads in the top cast piece are stripped out. I'm going to talk to some local machine shops about possible solutions.

    CaseIH 485 steering cylinder mount

The one bolt I had was 9/16. I guess I need to take the top piece to a machine shop and have them put helicoils in. The threaded hole in the bottom piece is confusing me. Somebody before must have been even more confused than me.

    F20 Manifold Stud

I found that ACE Hardware has an amazing selection of automotive studs. YMMV

    CaseIH 485 steering cylinder mount

While I am trying to find a place to rebuild a cylinder for my loader I tackled the leak on the end of my power steering cylinder. So I pulled it of the axel which is not technically hard just a PITA. There are two bolt holes I assume but only one had a bolt and that might explain the extreme...

    485 front end loader ID

Mine is leaking around the rod. I realized after looking at Bailey Hydraulic that the ports are different, SAE o-ring vs JIC that I have. So I am looking harder for a hydraulic repair shop. I'll keep this updated. Maybe it will help someone.

    485 front end loader ID

I am only looking at 3 inch cylinders with a 1.5 inch rod. That is what I have now. "good hydraulic shop" is the issue. I am new here and our little city does not have a hydraulic shop.

    485 front end loader ID

I have an unknown year 485 with an unknown loader. The left lift cylinder is spewing hydralic fluid. I can find the proper length cylinder at Tractor Supply but not the correct mounting points. I have a U shaped saddle near the operator and a T shaped end near the bucket. I took a picture of...

    CIH 85 series transmission

The 4 speed transmission was stuck in 2 so all I had was Lo, R and Hi. It is much more effective with a working trans.

    CIH 85 series transmission

After cleaning the linkage and lubricating with PB several times, I have all my gears working. It is nice.

    3pt anti-sway

bracket I was watching some 485 videos and realized I'm missing some brackets. At 1.09 in the attached video I can see that the mounting point for the axle end on the anti-sway chain assembly is at the same point as the pivot for the lower arms. That would make the distance between the...
