    You can bolt in just about any Oliver/ waukeshaw 6 cylinder engine from a 2 digit fleetline all the way up to a 1955 or a white 2-70 etc. but an engine out of a old 88 would be a little low on power for that size of tractor.     I am sure Isky will have the correct retainers if they sold you the springs. O.D. of the retainer will be smaller than the spring O.D. That is how it is supposed to be!! Like I said the fit of the ID which usually has two steps is the part that has to fit correctly.

    That sounds normal to me. Its the inside of the valve spring that needs to fit the retainer properly.

    Used oil.

    I have 9 wooden hay wagons that take care of about 10-15 gallons every fall, some of those racks are 40 plus years old and still as good as new. Also a buddy of mine uses a bunch to oil the wooden siding boards on his outbuilding.

    I guess if it works why fix it applys here, but we will have to agree to disagree on this one. For the 15 mins or less it takes to ensure compensator is set correctly I personally wouldnt risk it. At least ask the fellow who worked on it what the relief blew over at to give yourself peace of mind?

    Make sure you get the 2 cast pcs that go over the ball on the wishbone, and bolt up to the underside of tractor.

    When I took the Vickers course years ago one rule of thumb I remember for axial piston pumps in general is anything over 10 percent of pump max flow is considered too much leakage. 5 to 10 percent still acceptable for use. less than 5 dynamoehum!

    To set compensator I Just use a 3000 pound guage plugged in to a remote. Pull lever to engage that remote. Assuming it is backed out too far now have someone you trust turn compensator in/clockwise slowly while you watch the guage. Note: once it starts increasing it does not take much turning...
