    Farmall M coolant in oil

    I would pull the oil pan off and with coolant full watch up in there around the sleeves and look for drips. you'll be able to tell if it's coming from inside or outside of the sleeve. Also, If you pull the head..DON'T re-install it without having it resurfaced.

    Super C oil filter

    What way is the correct way to install the engine oil filter? One end has a longer,tapered nipple and the other end has a shorter nipple with a seal in it. It seems to fit both ways. I'm using a NAPA 1172 filter. This tractor had a spin-on kit and I'm putting it back to original.

    I also switched it to 12 volt...could that affect the way the starter engages? Such as "slamming" too hard?

    This will be the 3rd time to split it apart..The flywheel ring gear keeps stripping teeth. The first time I just flipped the ring gear over,the 2nd time I replaced it with a new aftermarket part and a NEW complete starter. I've started it less than 50 times since then and now it's grinding...

    There's two adjustment screws...the small slotted one is the one I assume is the idle mixture..the other is a large knurled screw which I assume is the load adjustment. I have to turn the larger one counter clockwise to get it to pull under load.Then when I come to an idle, I can tell that it is...

    Have a Marvel Schebler carb on my Super C, With the load screw adjusted so it pulls good under load then it runs too rich at idle..I have to turn the load screw in about a 1/4 turn to smooth out the idle..Does this seem right? I just can't seem to find the happy medium on this.

    Thanks,,My plan is to get something growing there before winter... then keep it mowed next summer.I plan to wait a couple summers before plowing it...I'm still finding some tree roots!

I spent most of this summer clearing trees,burning brush piles and now just finished root raking and dozing stumps out. What's a good cover crop to plant now that it's cleared...I'm in northern Michigan where we get...
